lol guys. It's day one or two of the new year and you're already giving up? Just relax. It isn't sexy but let's see how things go. It's the nfl.

I've been saying it for years but I'd like to see Kyle removed, or essentially removed, from the draft. Just asked for opinions or to look at tape.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we are terrible in the first three rounds and then crush the other half. I think Kyle has a loud voice in the first couple rounds and then scouts get bigger input in the mid to late.

let the scouts do their job and bring you the talent you desire. Being a great coach doesn't mean you're a great talent evaluator

It appears that's what's happening this year.

I hope so. Let the scout dept do their job. lol their job is to identify potential and culture fit for your system.

NFL coaches are looking at players more in the present, IMO. "What can they do for me now" sort of thing but coaches need to develop too. Which I think we've done a decent job of when we've got the right guys.

we have a ton of picks this year, so hope it's a great class

I would say let Kyle have input on WRs and to a certain degree on offense. Definitely need him to chill on the RBs early, certainly while we have CMC here.

Let Saleh and the scouts dictate the picks on defense.

Now I totally expect Jeanty at 11!

Look. I'm not as bad as some people on here, but I'm trying to be objective. Objectivity clearly says the plan is to put all our eggs into the draft basket. Now, I don't know of any "win now" team that has ever done that. The only teams that do that are ones that are exclusively thinking about 3-5 years from now and expect to suck for 1-2 years.

Lynch can call this a "re-load" all he wants to but if the plan says it's walking like a duck, acting like a duck, talking like a duck, then…

The fact is that the 49ers used free agency as a band-aid with mixed results given the multiple draft picks that were traded or didn't pan out (Hargrave vs. Kinlaw, CMC trade, Lance trade up; Floyd vs. D. Jackson) along with FA flops (Campbell, Oliver). Part of what contributed to that was also the DC churn.

It's just not durable model for sustained success, especially in the current climate of rising FA salaries (e.g., Banks free agency deal). I think we start modeling our revised approach closer to the Ravens - established franchise QB, primarily build thru the draft, select and targeted free agency signings, etc.

Very reasonable take.

Jed's DOGE

We were paying a lot of non foundational pieces. We've identified who's a critical member of the team and gonna build around them. I disagree with Dre leaving but I doubt we let him walk. This is paying off the debt while attempting to stay competitive

You think we're not gonna let Dre walk?

As in let him walk without matching the offer. I'd be willing to bet good money we matched Denver's offer and Dre truly did just want to be the guy

Ah okay

I'm intrigued to see if we make any trades between now and training camp. If we have a good draft, sign a few vet free agents that fit our system, and maybe make a couple solid trades to bolster our team.

this is the least optimistic I've been since 2017-2018 seasons (this stage of the off season) but i think we still have a lot of potential if we bolster some stuff and get our guys playing the way they should.

i think last year was abnormal and our culture sucked. Our guys were not focused. This season kinda reminds me of the eagles last year in some ways. Looked bleak into the off season and lost some guys. Then made some big moves like Barkley.

if CMC is back and healthy - we will be in great shape.

That's how it always should be IMO. If you draft/develop well and have a qb. All you need to do is sign quality affordability vets and it's a great model.

the hardest part is drafting well. We bash the team over their misses but most teams miss on all their picks. If you get 2 or so quality contributors in a draft, it's considered good.

I think the only difference with our situation is there are still plenty of excellent players on this team. Most rebuilding teams have very little talent.

I'm tired of answering calls and text from all my friends and family asking what is going on with the 49ers. 😂

"The #49ers agreed to terms with veteran special teams ace Luke Gifford on a one-year contract, sources tell The Insiders."

This is not a rebuild, it's more like resharpening a good knife

We've lost 7 starters that were projected to start last year. To top it off we still don't know the status of Aiyuk, Trent and CMC. Still no upgrade to the Oline and our pass rush has gotten considerably worse.
