When was our last "good" draft?
Last year.
Pearsall - Cowing - Green - Mustapha - Puni.
Pearsall - overdrafted and underwhelmig
Cowing - bad pick
Green - promising but jury still out
Mustapha - promising but jury still out
Puni - very good pick
Going to regret this but what makes Cowing a bad pick?
Pearsall being underwhelming may have something to do with the whole getting shot in the chest thing. But maybe that's just me.
He was awful every time he was on the field, particularly as a punt returner.
Pearsall is the average possession receiver you draft in the 4th round.
He wasn't very good at staying on his feet as a punt returner but he wasn't awful, just nothing special. Considering how bad our special teams were…him just not turning it over a bunch is a win.
However as a WR the guy made plays virtually every time he was targeted considering he caught 4 passes on 6 targets averaging 20 YPR.
So unless you rate WRs based on their punt returns as a rookie it certainly seems very odd to say he was a bad pick at this rate.
He looked like a gamer in preseason and should show more good things as a WR. Kyle just needs to trust him more and hopefully Jacob comes back ready to roll knowing the offense well.
Pearsall is not just a possession WR. Slot WRs have been key to offenses in today's NFL and you had Kupp win the triple crown on his way to helping the Rams win the SB, playing mostly in the slot. You're letting your own personal opinions cloud reality.
