Wait, is this saying the 49ers have had 108 draft picks during those 5 drafts? That would be more than 21 picks per draft, which isnt close to correct.

?????

Yeah that can't be right. The 49ers are the 5th worst drafting team, or the 5th best?

5th best according to PFF WAR which is going to favor teams that have drafted an elite QB, so it's impressive to have the 5th most WAR despite Trey not playing yet.

I'm not sure how the total picks is calculated unless that is counting UDFA rookies too, but that doesn't seem right either.

Thanks for the reminder AB, and it IS impressive just how well we picked last yr. A lot of folks were really so-so or not so hot on our draft last yr , (and that doesn't include UDFAs). Looking at the 2021 list, there is nobody on there that i don't want to keep. Yes, we haven't seen Banks yet but i still like him as a lock between Trent and Center . Jay moore we have already seen and i liked him. Only question is Ambry, but i think with experience he is a keeper. If so, we hit big last yr (yeah, i know, Trey is a ??? But F.O really likes him and we've seen a tiny bit of his work)

This yrs draft PLUS FA, UDFA, trades….i truly believe exceeds last yrs . Put those two together, and we are just bound to be better at our weaknesses, CB/S, EDGE, and OL. I like all we did, and can't wait to see what these guys can do. We had a team that went deep in playoffs last yr with some huge holes in 3 positions above. It really looks like we have improved mightily in all cases. Sure nobody has played a down in NFL yet, but we covered all bases, and wiht depth of OL , S and CB picks, we are bound to be better than last yr. Remainder of positions ,we seem fine at.

Adding another RB plus WR, only improves us more. I don't see this team doing any less than last yrs NFC appearance, and believe we are on track for a legit SB run this time. Of course all the new guys have to work out, or, rather SOME of them have to work out. But F.O filled the holes, and there is a lot to like here. Trey has to come thru, but he sure has a great D, great coaching, a way better ST squad, and a better and deeper OL. That is result of two great drafts in a row. The 5 picks from 2020 don't look too shabby either.

gone are the days of picks Reuben, CJ, Pettis, Hurd, Joe Williams, et al. The last 3 yrs it seems we have just drafted and acquired way better than we did at the outset with JL and Kyle. It is what one would expect , with time, but we have definitely done way, way better. Some of that obviously is due to having a team really nicely set at all positions other than CB/S, EDGE (a bookend), and OL. Now we are drafting with basically most holes filled and that helps also, of course.

True, Trey is going to have to live up to his rep, but we sure have put him in a fantastic position to succeed. I like us to take it all this yr. No, not a shoe in, but one really has to like what F.O has done to get us where we are at present. I don't see us with best record but rather fighting to get into playoffs, but getting better with each game that goes by. We'll lose some , of course, and probably twice to Rams. But come end of season, i see a team ready to take it all.

Well said my friend And I agree 100%, JL/KS have done a much better job in the past 3 drafts(not counting 2022), and yes they're not throwing money at guys who aren't worth it, like Garcon, Malcolm Smith, etc.... Future is bright, can't wait for 2022 season to get here.

They really have learned since the Solomon/Joe Williams/Reuben days. Got an awesome mobile QB. Got Bigger RB's due to injuries. More Dog mentality players in Jauan and Mitchell. Next (I hope) is that workout warrior culture that the old Dynasty had with Roger Craig and Jerry Rice. From what I could gather - Jason Poe is a workout warrior.

Yep, as for the workout warrior, looks like Burford is one, check his thread, a nice link to an article about him from goutsa.com

49ers cap situation is pretty good too, considering all they have to do is trade Jimmy and 25+ million is freed up to sign Deebo and Bosa.
