Great play call, guys are executing, guys are getting open and our QB is having a brain fart? Look I can't expect any QB to make the correct read every time, but this isn't a once in a while thing with him….even when you look past making proper reads pre/post look at how he is inside the pocket. He doesn't have great pocket feel. Not at all. That's also an issues which leads to unneeded pressure for him….we then say the OL blows disregarding he could have moved to the left/right or up in the pocket instead of just standing there throwing off his back foot.

Or even when the right read is made some of the awful misses. That Dallas game is a laugher if he hits Brandon Aiyuk wide open on a huge 3rd down gainer early in the 4th quarter. Somehow Kyle gets the label of choker when he calls the right play and it isn't consistently executed.

I don't expect Trey to make every throw but if he can AT LEAST hit the wide open ones more consistently than Jimmy did this offense becomes scary. Don't need a "pass-centric" offense, just one that hits the open plays in the pass game consistently. Like Matt Ryan did in 2016.

I think it's just being able to put points on the board regardless. Can't sustain drives or get first downs then play calling changes.

Having explosive plays change everything too.

some aweful takes to defend jimmy here

Welcome to the conversation!

Now go back and read and catch up.
Thank you.. but it all looks the same.. blame everything other then the true issue and the grass is always greener on the other side, even when the other side is inferior

Pretty much

For me it's just recognizing there is a correlation between quarterback play and s**tty fourth-quarter losses. Just tossing that out the window for a narrative is crap imo.

I expect a team that attempts to look far more like the 2016 Falcons than 2021 49ers.

In 2020 it was 570 passing attempts to 437 rushing attempts. In 2018 it was 532 pass attempts to 423 rush attemps.

Crazy how winning or losing can effect those totals

In theory sure. But since we were playing from behind in 2018 and 2020 more often it lead to more passing.

It's not just as simple as that and you know it. Lance isn't a NFL vet with a decades worth of experience. He's got the traits and intangibles, but that stuff all takes time.

Joe burrow almost won a super bowl In just his 2nd season. Same with Patrick Mahomes ( actually won super bowl 3rd year ). Why can't we expect the same kind of results from Lance? If we're using the "he lacks experience" excuse, then that's on Kyle for sticking with Jimmy over him. I have high expectations for Lance. All that draft capital we gave up for him, I'm expecting super bowls.

Exactly, I don't think the story can be written on Kyle until Trey has played two years. This team was a dumpster fire when they were hired. The entire roster was flipped. They spent resources early on in building a defense, right move, and then Jimmy kind of dropped from the sky. Not sure he would have been Kyles plan but it looked like we lucked into something early on and the contract was signed. It wasn't a bad move but Kyle 2.0 I am sure is so stoked about the next chapter on offense. This is his pick. This is not a drop from the sky out of need.

I still think this year is a growth year for Trey. Ready for a year of bashing. But come year two (really year three) we see the offense Kyle has always envisioned.

I can't wait but I am also prepared for a growth year this year. Anything above that or some surprise on how good he really is is just icing on the cake.

Okay. I will buy that.

We could go to the Super Bowl. But to have those expectations is a bit premature. I dont think Bengals or Chiefs fans were going into those seasons thinking they should have expectations of Super Bowl or bust. Not to piss on someone's excitement for Lance but I would tamper my expectations.

And that's why it is on Kyle. Blame Jimmy for not getting a first down on the last 2 drives. Fine. Blame the defense for not stopping the rams ONCE their last 4 possessions. Blame the running game for being non existent. Blame the oline for not doing their job.

Add it all up. Its on the HC. He will never shake that loser image until he puts it all together and wins one. Like mcvay. As hard ot is to hear, our HC buckles under pressure.

That is so true and something that I have noticed as well.

Yes. But you guys are missing the big picture. A post that I made yesterday explained my issues with blaming mostly Jimmy in the game. He's a scapegoat.

1. The game was 10 to 7 niners. Your lord and savior Stafford had been dinking and dunking all game, had a 10 minute drive, and only 7 points to show for it.

2. Jimmy leads them down and throws a td pass to kittle, up 17-7. Momentum all on the niners.

3. What does the defense do next? 2 boneheaded plays and allow the rams to March down the field and score a td. 17-14.

4. Niners get the ball at the f**king 12 yard line. Jimmy makes two terrific passes, one checkdown to mitchell by shifting in the pocket, something you say he didn't do. They get to the 50. Run to Mitchel, 2nd and 1. What does Kyle f**king do? 2 runs that get stuffed. Your genius play caller calls 2 runs and they both get stuffed. 4th and 1, after a HUGE error by mcvay to challenge. Mind you, Jimmy hasn't even thrown an incomplete pass this drive. What does Shanahan do? He f**king punts. He does exactly what the rams wanted.

5. Defense allows the rams to March down the field on a 3 minute drive and scores a fg. Still a tied game.

6. Now all the momentum is on the rams side as the niners yet again blow a 10 point lead in the 4th. What does Shanahan do? Calls 3 low percentage passing plays and abandons the run even though the game is tied. A false start by the oline on top of that. They're forced to punt.

7. The defense allows a f**king 4 minute drive, allowing the rams to take the lead.

The rest is history.

So go ahead and blame Jimmy to protect shannys boneheaded decisions yet again in the 4th. To me this loss was on everyone, but mostly Shanahan. That 4th quarter disgusted me.

Probably not, but by In doing so, they have set the bar high. Besides, Lance has the offense genius on his side. Not to mention a Defense that I expect to be ranked in the top 10. What could possibly go wrong?
