Nothing to do with Sermon.. Sermon's gonna be great so is Mitchell and Price. Today's NFL you need a stable of rbs especially with a team that has no more Mostert, not as many Deebo runs and a coach who every now and again will surprise a team with a 40+ runs gameplan.

I bet we go o line in the 4th.
Daniel Faalele
Darian Kinnard
Rasheed Walker
Dohnovan West
Jamaree Salyer
Out of these five lineman I like Dohnovan West the most.
Pre-Draft Analysis
West is a versatile offensive lineman with experience at all three interior positions. He is an aggressive run-blocker with the power base to generate some push, and he's smooth working up to the second level. West's quick hands and short-area punch in pass protection stand out on tape. He doesn't have great foot speed and can get caught flat-footed at times. -- Steve Muench
Darian Kinnard seems like he could be a good fit also.
Pre-Draft Analysis
Kinnard primarily lined up at right tackle at Kentucky, but he projects better at guard than tackle in the NFL. He's a massive mauler who is one of the strongest blockers in this class; he pushes around defenders in the run game. He is late delivering his punch and doesn't mirror well, but he anchors fine, and his long arms and wide frame make it tough to get around him. -- Steve Muench

Not necessarily. Drafting another running back could be used to give Sermon a push, a little extra motivation. We'll see come pre season who wins the rb2 role.

Gotta say I have zero issue with the players picked given where we were. I am still scratching my head at the positions given perceived need, but either the team doesn't agree with my assessment or they simply aren't going to reach out of desperation and you know what? That's ok, because again, you can't really argue with the players they chose.

At the end of the day though, we got a nickel ER, small slot WR and backup RB.
In terms of snaps on the field, this isn't going to move the needle much at all this season. Maybe more in 2023.
PYMWYMI = 9-8
I actually had Gray in my mock, but that's a reach in the 3rd imo. He would've been there in the 4th, possibly even 5th. But I get it, if they like him that much, get your guy.
RB is a f**king waste this early though. OL or DB at least!
Ugh...
Agreed. Reading the room seems to be a weakness with this regime. Gray was projected in the 4th and the Arby, an UDFA. For a team that can find Arby's late and as UDFA's with remarkable success, this was wildly unnecessary esp. if it's not for a starting position. Hell, UDFA RB's beg to come here.
But again, in a passing league, you gotta protect the QB and stop the pass.
I hate to say it, but these moves scream Trey and the 49ers will be leading the league in rushing attempts again.
I'm not trying to downplay the players themselves but the roles they will play are not going to move the needle, if at all in 2022.

Ya know NC, it's like the team doesn't even realize it's own blind spots.
do we draft DL at the expense of every other position? f**k it, draft another DL.
Do we take RBs too high, even tho the entire league has devalued that position? One we have had success drafting later? f**k it take another RB early.
then, we have this organizational puff piece
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/deebo-samuels-trade-request-surprised-disappointed-kyle-shanahan-john-lynch
oh you guys are surprised? You guys are sad? You don't know why deebo did what he did?
I call b******t. Shanny has, for years, ridden deebo hard in camp, saying he wasn't in perfect shape, etc.... the one year we ride him into the ground, paraag tells him he ain't making record breaking money.
what is the point? It's Shanny's way or the hard way. Deebo saw Buckner get traded and that was our heart and soul. Now we're arguing with another heart and soul player. That's how this team operates. They act like they can just go find another you.
PS— things that were unclear when shanny and bum lynch took over 5 years ago.
do we have a good QB? Not sure
do we have good OL? Not sure
do we have a good secondary? Not sure.
Do we have any receivers? Maybe finally
i hate lynch. The most common aspect of people they draft? Expected draft position 1-2 rounds lower, while other higher rated people are picked all around them. Banks over Samuel Jr I'm still mad. Sermon in 3rd now they're gonna cut a 3rd rounder one year later?
jeezus Christ!!

You mentioned reading the room NChard to read the room when you've got your head up your own ass all the time smelling your own farts.

Man, if there was one interview with John and Kyle that absolutely sums of their offensive and defensive philosophy, player acquisition mindset, personnel philosophy, personnel usage, player communications, contract negotiations, analytics role, draft tendencies and philosophy, scheme, etc. it's this interview right here.
If you want to see the current 49ers through John and Kyle's eyes, I highly recommend listening to this interview and writing their quotes down. Seriously.
That will drive all of your predictions going forward and keep you grounded.
In fact, they've outlined what this team will look like this year.

I think he's a solid player, but RB just isn't a big need for us...Kyle is constantly finding guys in the late rounds and turns them into studs. It's a waste of a 3rd round pick when we have much bigger needs at DB/OL.

I think Mike M was more the RB guy over Kyle. Raheem was Mikes guy and pushed to get him.
Not that Kyle won't do well but let's see how these RBs go without Mike.

Simple as that. This dude was targeted as an UDFA in a consensus mock (across what, 50 draft boards?). Had they taken a player like this in the 5th-UDFA for a "part time" role, that's perfect.
Take a 1K snap player in the 3rd. OL, S or SCB.
