Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

Bethea, Brooke, Reid and Brock are next on the chopping block....all 4 making more money than their play justifies.

Lynch must be planning on doing some magic in FA. Outside of kerley, we might not actually have a NFL caliber WR on this roster right now. We will need about three to four combination of FAs and draft picks to come in here. Right now our next best WR at any position is ellington, who really shouldn't make the roster imo.

I think its definitely true that most FAs will use us as leverage vs another team. Just the reality of having a s**t ton of cap space.

Torrey Smith like Kaep, never improve his game since he got to the Niners.

Didn't improve his route running and not physical enough. Missing 2 out of 3 key components of a good all around receiver.

None of those guys is really an improvement. Kilgore is fine as a center, just has not been able to stay healthy. No reason to get rid of him. At worst he gives you solid depth at a crucial position.

I do think they need to draft someone to be the long term starter. In spite of it being a s**tty draft for OL overall, there are a few guys who make for intriguing prospects as centers in Shanahan's scheme.

Lynch should better know what he is doing.
To me, cutting Torrey is absolutely unnecessary, almost a stupid move.
