Re-signings to come -- Late last year, the 49ers signed two would-be free agents, tight end Vance McDonald and linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong, to contract extensions. Several other 49ers, including 2016 leading receiver Jeremy Kerley and kicker Phil Dawson, are scheduled to become free agents next week.
Lynch said there were ongoing "discussions" with some of those pending free agents.
"Hopefully we see some things in the next couple of days," he said.

Anybody taking seriously anything that Lynch or kyle say at this particular time of yr, are kidding themselves. They are both tight lipped, clever, and obfuscating as they go along. Always saying the right thing, always being praiseworthy....unless it is someone they REALLY like, in which case they say nothing, or just change the subject.
Sounds like two excellent HC and GM from here....but don't expect them to give us or anyone else a smidgeon of information. Same goes for dealing for Kirk Cousins. If it happens, we will know after the fact. For now, nada, nothing. And don't count on adding anything to that.
Hey cc...good hearing from you. At first i was tepid with the lynch hiriing. Then did some reading, did his bio, and i was somewhat interested. Then saw some one on one interviews, and the antennae went up. Then watched, listened, and now think this may be the one best move this team has made since change of ownership. Sharp guy, gives you no clue as to what he is thinking, and has surrounded himself with some good people. This franchise was moldy, oldy, and in need of a total redo. Well, it just got done. Lynch has the SB ring plus the hx of being a DB stud who always played full throttle. He seems to be managing the same way. He also has the benefit of media in his background, which makes him a one man stud for a GM. Played the game, played it right, smart s.o.b., and knows how to handle media. When was the last time we had one of those....never, i think.

Yeah it was cool listening to him discuss how he came to Stanford as a QB and then played S. And now talking with Kyle and how they both mesh from both sides of the line on an ideal QB.

I'm personally looking forward to bringing in some real talent through the market. Finally get to see some players and not projects and rehab patients.
Depends on what you mean by "all out." Going Redskins or Jaguars "all out?" Spending money just to spend money or carefully spending on a few critical impact players?
In the end the results will determine if it was worth it or not. The champions of a March spending frenzy are rarely ever the team holding up the Lombardi at season's end.

I'd normally say don't do it since we can't draft offense for s**t, but that was the old regime. Lol

Probably means a first. I think Kendall Wright is a FA this year.

Eagles and Titans linked to Brandin Cooks trade talks so far. They've also been linked to Alshon Jeffery, so we'll definitely be competing with those teams for WR talent this off-season.

Listening to Lynch, he nailed it IMHO. If you read between the lines (no pun intended), he notes the following:
- Kyle Shanahan has provided very detail accounts of what he is specifically looking for from each position (including defense, of which Lynch was very impressed with) so that those players can fit into the whole system perfectly (i.e. very Bill & Bill-like)
- WR's are very hard to evaluate b/c they only run a couple routes these days (d/t the spread offensive trends) so you have to project based on certain "traits"
- QB, same concept (I detailed Kyle's check list of ideals several times); the first 6 QB's are all expected to be spread QB's
- Then he also touches on OL, for this same concept (Baalke noted the same).
- So this spread/air raid trend in college is really making it harder to project into the NFL so teams are forced to project based on certain traits
As a result, my guestimate is that we'll hit FA much harder for the following positions this year:
- Bridge QB's
- OL
- WR's
In the draft, we'll probably target way more on defense:
- ER, NT, ILB, CB & S
So buy the ready-made offense in free agency and draft the defense. A QB like Trubisky may still be drafted (as well as a fit-QB like Peterman) b/c of the specific traits or pro-style college experience that translate well into the WCO but expect years of development still (2-3 years at least) before they see the field.

I am not giving up a 1st or 2nd round pick for a WR when 49ers don't have a QB. Also they can just sign Jeffery.

He was upset later last season because he felt he wasn't targeted enough. He's a talented young playmaker who disappears for long stretches. That being said, I doubt the Saints would trade him for less than a 1st rd pick, but really isn't worth more than a 3rd rd pick.
