Well, you don't know who they will trot out, because it is still only January, but since their first draft I don't recall us gambling on the most injury prone players. And your first paragraph makes no sense.

Shanahan has had a QB he hand picked for four years and has failed to develop him. He had two franchise QBs fall into his lap in 2017.

I don't have a lot of faith with Shanahan when it comes to picking and developing young QBs. Maximizing vets? Yeah, he has a track record of that. But picking or developing young ones? I'm skeptical.

But as an aside, Watson is on his way to a Hall of Fame career. The moon is a fair price for him.

Don't be disappointed if he picks Kyle Pitts or a tackle (if we lose Trent). Or even a cornerback.

I mean think about it: if the roster is pretty good when healthy, you want to maximize it while you got it (the window is starting to close). You just failed to get Stafford, and you're not getting Watson, so you're riding with Jimmy. But Jimmy has weaknesses (outside the numbers down the field in particular). How to you mitigate that? With a second elite guy who can dominate in the seams: Kyle Pitts.

So, they may go QB. But they could go Pitts, too.

Here is why I like lynch not giving in. I think of all the franchises that are competitive year in and year out and are well run

Packers, patriots, steelers, ravens


None of them would have done that deal. There are smart organizations, and then there's the rams. And then there are the idiots on here that are mad at lynch for not mortgaging the future.

I could see it. They bank on health, maybe take pass protection seriously for a change and upgrade the OL or add Pitts to rape defenses with 2 dynamic TE's as defenses won't know if we'll run OR pass out of those sets and play to Garoppolo's strengths.

All of those franchises spend big and/or had a FQB. I'm assuming you're implying the Rams are dumb yet they've upgraded every year and have been in the playoffs virtually every year even with Goff.

If anything, it proves there are multiple ways to build and sustain a roster around the salary cap now.
