just great another rookie

Thanks thl...I was about to put in some time on another spreadsheet. LOL

Some guys just have the ability to recognize talent when they see it. They don't have to have years and years of experience. It is just in their nature.

We don't need this hanging over our heads if we are trying change our image as a an organization..especially to attract players.

Lynch would come off as Good Cop, and should help his image even more for potential free agents.

Absolutely correct. It is petty.

Just curious, but what would you guys do if someone owed you $300k and didn't give a s**t the advice you gave him?

Maybe I break their legs but I am not a football team.
The 49ers have an image problem that could hurt them from attracting talent. Would a hard line on Aldon make them less or more attractive to potential FAs?

Assuming that Lynch isn't in favor of it. It fits with his theme about accountability. You f**k up(over and over and over and over and over), you get held accountable.

Yes i understand that, but Aldon wasn't under his watch. Should not attach himself to someone's else's f**kup. Mainly if that player hasn't been on the team for a while now. Or is going to be on the team going forward.

edit- even if this has nothing to do with GM Duties... Jed should make it seem like it was Lynch who ask this lawsuit to be thrown out.
that 300k would go to a player on our team who really deserves it

Usually I'd agree with this.... but with our Cap room... I feel it is not worth the bad press.

It's like breaking up with your crazy Girlfriend...and just leave some of your stuff with her...Especially if you have a good income... just so you don't have to deal with her anymore... move on.

I don't know about that, Peters is a promising scout but he has relatively little experience. I wouldn't be shocked to see a former GM like Dominik or Hickey wind up joining the front office as well.
the impression i got from Lynch is he wants to surround himself with knowledgeable people. I see more hires coming

Lynch is 1 for 1 in getting his guys

It is certainly more of an art, than science. And like you said, you either have it or you don't (like speed in the NFL).

I'd be all for that move...just as long as it's not too many cooks in the kitchen.

I think the more cooks the better personally. But there can only be one executive chef. Thats the key...

Here a story that you guys may find interesting. What is says or doesn't say about his upbringing is up to you. John has a younger brother Ryan. Around '92 Ryan was in high school here in San Diego. during a football game he kicked an opposing teams player in the stomach and was tossed from the game. Playoffs were starting the following week and by rule he was to be suspended for the game. John Lynch Sr their father, Is a very wealthy man. own a bunch of radio stations and other media outlets. He decides, instead of his son serving his suspension, to get his lawyers involved and get an injunction on the suspension knowing that by the time it was adjudicated playoffs would be over. Which is exactly what happened. This allowed the brother Ryan to play the next weeks game which they eventually lost.

Lol I'm sorry what does this have to do with anything regarding John lynch

That kicking someone in the stomach still leads to losing in the playoffs or something.

Maybe nothing which is why I said at the top of the post you MAY find it interesting and what it says or doesn't say is up to you. Considering NO ONE on this board saw this hiring coming and no one knows much about him I thought it would interest some. You are a product of your environment you're raised in so take it for what you will

Im not sure Lynch will even be involved in this lawsuit at all. The judgment has already been awarded. This is something for the lawyer's to handle. It shouldn't affect or concern Lynch at all.

Ahhhh, just like how our WCO used to run.
I'm glad we got someone to help lynch. We are good until peters leaves for a GM spot somewhere. As long as John can talk up and coming talent evaluators to come here we should be good.

I keep hearing that as well, how he is self-aware enough to know what he knows and what he doesn't and is confident enough to admit it to others. Very encouraging.

To me, a good scout or talent evaluator can recognize certain physical traits in a player and whether or not those skills can potentially translate to your team's offensive/defensive philosophies.

The biggest part as far as luck goes is the things that you can't measure...a person's drive or heart. For example, there was a legitimate debate at one time to who was the better player, Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf.
