Thanks. It's tough to slam a pick before he ever plays a snap. It's a crapshoot.

Over drafting is one thing though and we can argue Hurd was. I wouldn't say Deebo was as I doubt he made it to our 3rd. It's frustrating knowing we will be better but still have some holes etc.

I love this pick...just talking overall draft strategies and what we've learned about ShanaLynch thus far.

FOR the past 3 drafts, what I've noticed is that LynaHan seems to fall in love with WRs and had ignored the secondary which has been the weakest link of our defense..

.. as good as Deebo is, he was a REACH in my opinion.. and I thought the Petite was a reach too.. but knowing we needed a CB, we are just gonna have to wait until Day 3 and hope to land a DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH..

Agreed. Their tendencies are pretty well mapped out at this stage. But still evolving too.

The third round pick was awful.... Lynch struggles to show basic competency, and is extremely fortunate to have an owner worse at his job than he is at his. This was an overdraft of a barely marginal prospect and should lead to administrative changes as soon as possible.

My guess is you had absolutely no clue who he even was before they picked him. Could probably say that about the majority of the players drafted...or that are currently in the pros and so on and so on

What did you think of the Bosa pick?

Yeah I agree! Pettis was a reach and not worth a trade up for... then theres the CJ and Joe Williams trades too.... BUT I love Deebo, and honestly I don't think he would have lasted much longer, but AJ Brown would have been so nice on the outside... but Deebo is a great pick none the less.

Look for Jimmy Moorland to be our next pick... they love him, as does alot of the NFL.

I'm absolutely gutted that Adderley and Thornhill got picked just before our 3rd!
Day 3, 4th round Mack Wilson Alabama.
I am okay that Lynch is willing to gamble on his coaches to choose players they want to develop. It's good to be confident in your development system. I hope they work out.

But, as a GM, I think Lynch needs to manage risk and draft capital a bit better. Not every injury history will turn 180 degrees once a player reaches the pros. And if there are a few must-haves per year, then either the scheme is too rigid or scouting time is wasted.

There were only a hand full of secondary players taken after our round 3 pick so there must be something of value left.

Julian Love, Kendall Sheffield

For coverage perhaps:

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Deionte Thompson, , Amani Hooker

Long injury histories because Marquise Goodwin will take a diminished role be cause of what?

I try to stay positive but it's details like this that just make me ask why do we continue do acquire injured players? It's getting almost hilarious. If a player doesn't have a medical log, I'm starting to ask what's wrong with him if the 49ers sign.

Sherman was an acquired injured player.

Pettis had more catches for more yardage and more TDs than Antonio Brown in their rookie seasons. Ya think maybe it's a tad bit premature to judge Pettis? Oh, I get it. AB wasn't drafted till the 6th. He would have been a reach in Round 2.

It's been THREE off seasons ... no more excuses

Definitely. They don't have excuses. I think the main problem with them is that they're too overconfident in the secondary. I don't know what they see in Jimmie Ward. They liked him enough to pay him 9 million and bring him back when no one else wanted. So I guess hes the starting free safety.......its kind of a joke. I know the draft isn't over, but so far, I feel like they're just overlooking this area too much.

I mean MAYBE the pass rush will help the back-end look good. But who is willing to make that bet? Honestly? I wouldn't put $50 on that bet this year. I can see Witherspoon getting torched after Verrett gets injured, and Tartt/Ward being on and off the field due to injuries.

The players we drafted and got in free agency have had injury issues. Kwon, Ford, verrett, bosa, samuel, and hurd... This is insane lmao

IDC, i'm just glad we are getting some new talent in the building. We can figure everything else out later, that's what the medical staff is hired for.

This is football, guys are going to get hurt. But let's not screw up Christmas focusing on that stuff right now.

When they first started, Lynch and Shanahan talked about how they'd stay true to finding scheme fits. So, I think their M.O. has been that injuries are acceptable so long as they are a perfect fit. NFL careers are short, so maybe they think a healthy player is more likely to bust than a talented player is likely to remain injured. I would like them to mix in more healthy players.
