Not about who I wanted. It's about hiring someone with a legit resume, pedigree, and knowledge about the position. You know, what successful companies, teams, and franchises do. Yorks have tried this before with head coaches and it didn't work.

Didn't help Grigson he had the resume, pedigree, knowledge and failed horribly. Nothing is sure thing

That is terrible logic. That's like saying: "a guy jumps out of an airplane and dies because his parachute fails" So people shouldn't wear parachutes because it could fail.
Just because some GM's fail doesn't mean they shouldn't be as experienced as possible. If anything, it confirms how difficult the job can be even for candidates that have YEARS of scouting or coaching experience.
How many GMs have been successful starting with ZERO experience at the job?

and how many have failed that've had years of experience? Gotta see it both ways here...

LOL but if NO one has succeeded with zero experience and if only even 25% of properly experienced GMs succeed, which would you rather pick?

And Elway had next to nothing but surrounded himself with great minds and is a winner...sure I'd like the most decorated GM to walk through the door and take s**t over but that's not happening, I'm simply saying there are no sure things. You can have all the tools to be a great GM (Grigson and Poli) and f**k it up.

The guys we've interviewed had no GM experience. Sure they had front office experience, but that's still not a sure thing. You're just going to have to suck it up for however many years and see how this plays out like the rest of us. I think it'll work out, but that's just my gut feeling and nothing anybody says will change that.

I like that. He's getting a lot of support from a lot of people around the league.

Oh that's right he had experience in the AFL lol...that's like saying tomsula was prepared to be a head coach cause he was one in NFL Europe.

Elway isn't a scout and even stated it, but he's surround himself with great evaluators (one lynch is going after currently) and he's been able to bring in FA which is something lynch might actually be good at doing unlike baalke.
lulz @ the forty whiners still whining about this move.

the guy is getting praised left and right, but lets listen to a bunch of people on a forum thinking they know best. lmao
Jim Trotter‏ @JimTrotter_NFL

I misspoke earlier. Lynch will have final say over the draft, free agency and 90-man roster. Shanahan will have final say on 53-man roster.

So he is the official triggerman

Allow me to reiterate, because I have watched the following topic prodominantly at the top of the charts for the past 2 years at least.

Hate to break up the hate fest but there is something that Lynch represents that everyone was clamoring for 6 months ago and beyond. He is not about business, he is about players and winning. He initiated this process with KS and has now got the job. If nothing else, these two hires don't lend themselves to the corporate profit that has plagued the priorities of this franchise for years. This I am thankful for.

I hope Lynch will stuff that nerd Paraag in his locker if he tries to butt in on football decisions.

I was just listening to the radio in non-9erland and they made the comparison to Steve Kerr rather than Matt Millen.

Steve Kerr the GM lasted 3 years. Not sure that is any better of a comparison. Steve Kerr the coach really isn't comparable since Lynch is not coaching.
