Any theory on why Tyrod Taylor had no problems with the wind?

Lol this

I keep seeing that wind excuse pop up but tyrod seemed to be dropping dimes without issue

Dropping dimes lol stop he had less than 180 yards 30 coming on a wide up TD. The wind was wild there still doesn't make up for kaps play...but did anyone think he was gonna roll out and throw for 300 in buffalo in those condidtions after not playing in a regular season game for like a yr?

Well he threw over 65% vs our 44%, seems those horrible conditions didn't affect Tyrod as that was better then his career average.

I think it's easier to pass the ball when your running game is doing whatever it wants to a defense.... compared to us, struggling to run the ball.

s**t, how leading rusher was Kaepernick with 66 yards.

and did you see most of those incompletions in the second half? It's not like all of them were being thrown all over the place. They were catchable. I think that's why they were listed as drops.

edit- oh well forget it. Either-way, he didn't play up to my expectations in the second half...and I'm sure not up to his. Started off well though, so looking forward to seeing how they will carry that into these next few games.

He was playing against a really really really bad defense and had a 300 yd rush attack to work with. He wasn't making tough passes in that wind, it was about as easy as it gets for a QB at the NFL level.

That TD is on Reid. Needs to have outside leverage in Cover 1.

Yup. Once the film thread is up (tomorrow), I'll show how Reid misplayed this and compare it to a very similar play the previous week (ARI) where RRobinson played it well, like how a good CB should have done it. It has to do with the headfake to the inside before JHunter broke towards the Corner.

Ward to safety makes so much sense that it'll never happen

Outstanding hustle by Reid and Bethea there. You could really see how much that play means to them.

It's called I hope the QB is as inaccurate as our QB coverage. It's a risk/reward coverage. Every once in a while you get an incomplete pass. But usually it's a TD. It's a bold strategy.

Ahhh, the old 'Brock-tactic' - hope they either drop it or the QB overthrows it while you are half-jogging in the general area and then talk mad trash after while being down 45 points. Got it!

Exactly.

I mean Reid isn't a CB (like Robinson) though he's a SS. I get what your saying with him playing down to help with run D (which didn't help). It was a miss match waiting to happen with hunter who runs a 4.4.

Ward has shown to be incredibly soft...he would get destroyed physically if he's asked to take on blockers and take down RB's head on. This guy just can't stay healthy enough to provide any impact.

Ward's a different animal at S though...he's a play maker when the action is in front of him. But I get what you're saying about his health. No denying that! I'm happy with him at CB too. I just think his natural position is FS with Tartt at SS.

is Marcus Cromadie not getting any play time on defense?

when he had to step in at corner for us a few years ago, he did well.

now he switched to Safety for us, to make the team....and he did. Just curious with all the injuries to cb, slot, safety position... he doesn't somehow get into the game?

I'd rather him guarding WRs on important downs, if a safety is needed there..... and I'd rather have Bethea off the field if need be.

Lost some time with the foot, like hyde I wonder about the teams training/medical staff. Then a pulled muscle on ST. Anything else?

He's on the bench again...this guy can never stay healthy. He was hurt when we over drafted him and it's continued every season he's played in the NFL.

Fellas

The point that was trying to be made is that the wind was affecting our qbs passes, if the wind was that big of an issue it would have affected the other team's qb as well, regardless of how bad our defense is both teams played in the same conditions. The opposing qb passed for a higher then average %, the "conditions" are not an excuse thats all I'm saying.

You're talking about two different things. Being soft to me means he's scared of taking a hit. Vernon in his later years with the Niners was SOFT. Being injury prone is a completely different subject. Carlos Hyde seems to be injury prone but I don't think anyone would call him soft.

That's exactly what I was getting at. Can't expect Reid to play like a CB because he isn't one. On this play, Reid fell for a headfake that he should not have because Bethea was there to help on the inside. Instead, Reid falls for the headfake and gets setup for the outside breaking route. Toast.

I remember when Merton Hanks was moved to FS(from CB) and would occasionally drop down to play CB. This is the role I envision for Ward so that in situations like this (base vs 3WR), Ward can move down and line up across from a WR and not miss a beat. The defense gets to keep their base front 7 while not suffering in pass coverage the way they did on this Hunter TD where Reid was asked to do something he isn't good at (covering a WR off the LoS).
