You couldn't get a 7th round pick in 2055 for Davis.

Release Ponder ASAP and promote M. Rush

1. Release Kaepernick;
2. Re-sign one of Ponder/Gabbert;
3. Add one of the better pass rushers available in FA;
4. Add 1 (or 2) slightly above mid-level FA WR's who fits Kelly's system;
5. Draft Round 1 BPA (for example if Garrett's there and top QB is not you take Garrett over a WR);
6. Draft (Rest of) playmakers on offense;

It is really tough because you don't want to reach for a QB, but you also don't have a hope of winning with any degree of consistency without a good one either. Do you think Philadelphia cares at all right now about what they gave up for Wentz? Baalke has had a wealth of picks but with two turds at QB it doesn't matter one bit.

Ponder in for Gabbert - Gabbert is looking scared, time to bench him
Davis in for Draughn - Time to see what we have with the kid
Garnett in for Beadles - See Above, Run Blocking up the middle also needs a boost
Start Anyone over Patton - Patton is a good run blocker and mediocre receiver
Bellore in at ILB next to Bowman - Hodges is awful, Whilhoite is soft
Dorsey in for Purcell who should never see the field unless it's an emergency
Dial in for Buckner on running downs - Buckner is young and is awful against the run
Blair in for AA on non passing downs - AA is a great pass rusher and awful against the run
Split time with Rush and Carradine and bench Eli at OLB - Eli is below average, It might be a run liability but atleast we'll get some more pass rush
Put Brock in the slot and start Robinson - Brock needs to see a change before we bench him maybe it wakes him up
Put Ward in at Safety and start Davis - Father time has caught Bethea and Tartt is looking more like Taylor Mays than the second coming. Lets see what Davis can do.

Last thing, crazy as it sounds but I'd take play calling away from Oneil who doesn't seem to understand that he needs to set his guys up to succeed, worst coaching hire by this team since Singletary. And I absolutely hate all of the lineup changes on D. I get they want to give guys breathers but we just don't have a talent deep roster right now and I think it's creating more of a Liability that teams are exploiting. Play your best 11 and only give them breathers only when they Need them.

We can definitely do worst than Gabbert. As much as he sucks, he doesnt get sacked or turn the ball over.

Ponder will give the rock away and doesnt have a cannon either.

If Kap was there, he would be in the game. Obviously they dont want him playing either to hold whatever s**tty trade value he has now, or that dumb injury clause. He dinked and dunked in his only cameo as well, still stares down receivers, only positive would be holding the ball and taking some zone reads.

This is all on that idiot Trent taking DB after DB in drafts and never investing in the QB position. Im talking real investments, not 6th and 7th round bums.

Look at the Pats, had Brady still spent a 2nd on Jimmy G and a 3rd this year on Jacoby. They u derstand the importance

1) Play Gabbert till the Bye week.
2) Play Kaepernick to the rest of the year
3) Release whoever stinks it up more.
4) Pray for a high draft position
5) Fire Trent Baalke and the entire scouting department
6) Extend Eric Reid. No one else deserves extensions because they are f**king trash.
7) Promote Gamble and hire new scouts who know how to do the job, because the previous ones obviously f**ked it up.
8) Get a QB in the first round.
9) Rounds 2 and 3 need to be WR or TE.
10) Rounds 4-7 can be Safety, Inside Linebacker, WR, or TE


In free agency, you can try to allure someone here, but Santa Clara is obviously not a premiere destination with our s**t QBs and s**t offense. Maybe a pass rusher can come, I guess? But I wouldn't pay the farm for one.

As suggested previously, let the kids play, we need to see what they're made of. If there is cream on the roster, let it rise to the top. Armstead (unfortunately he's injured), Buckner, Robinson, Tartt, let them loose.

Beyond some spots where the youth might be able to step up, there are more spots where there is basically nothing (QB, WR for example). Whether it is Gabbert (I'd almost prefer him because he is so bad) or Kaepernick, or Ponder, let's just ride this season out and get to the draft where the true opportunity for genuine improvement of the roster can begin.

We need to weed out the garbage quickly, but we have so many holes that true change will take longer than one off-season. I don't think blowing our salary cap load is the smart thing to do. Which is not to say that if the right (productive/impact/leaders) players come available that we shouldn't bring them in. I'm not sure there are a lot of options at this point in the season.

Someone or a moderator deleted my post, Gabbert is the new Curtis Painter, the Niners want to lose every game this year. It is a wise move. Better than giving up 3 first round picks to move up 5 slots for a ??? qb.

It's tough. I don't want to see the team lose, I see us at least equaling last season's win total, but winning even that many games gets us nowhere when we have so many holes on the roster. And I'm not even saying tank, it's possible it will happen naturally. All that being said I don't think there is an Andrew Luck waiting for us this year, and that being said I am not a scout and I don't watch enough college ball to know for certain that there is or isn't a great QB who will be there for us to draft. I just know that there is not a whole lot waiting there on the current roster to suddenly blossom into stars, there are some players, just not nearly enough, and certainly not at QB. It is frustrating as a 49ers fan.
