You're crazy if you think Kap won't play if Gabbert continues his struggles this week. If Gabbert can't look serviceable vs a defense like Dallas that is in no threat to put pressure on the QB, he's done and Kap will have a chance to get his revenge on AZ and get back to owning them like he has always done aside from 1 game. Chip is trying to redeem himself and get some wins again

I am saying if it comes down to him not playing all year it sure as s**t isn't racism. If we stay this bad and he doesn't play...it was a financial decision to protect the franchise from having to pick up the tab on another injury guarantee.

For the record...I think he will play and possibly as early as the second half of this weeks game.

I don't see it coming until after the bye. Not unless Gabbert gets hurt. If they are going to pull Gabbert and start Kap, why do it with a short preparation window coming up against AZ? I don't think we see Gabbert pulled until the BYE week. Which is about the timing a lot of people thought we would see going into the season. The early schedule was so brutal I figured who ever started would be gone after the first half of the season. Of course that is also assuming Kap has convinced Kelly and company he is healthy enough to start and continue playing. And that he can successfully run the offense in practice. And I completely agree, the racism comments are totally out of line.

Cheapo Yorks? I hope not.
Why not cut him if you aren't willing to play him, why have him active and dressed each week?

What are the million reasons? If it's because they don't want him to get hurt then put him on IR not be a active backup who can still get hurt.

That's what I'm saying! If they don't want to risk him getting hurt (and be forced to pay him) throw him on IR and give his roster spot to someone else.

The fact that he's active and the backup leads me to believe that's not the issue.

If Blaine sucks it up again against the 22nd ranked pass D this week something has to happen.

It has nothing to do with the W/L record. The main thing is to put him in when he's physically and mentally ready. The logical time is the bye week. You get two weeks to prepare and then you face a really bad defense on your home field. It gives Kap, and the Offense as a whole, the best chance for success.

Ah.....NO. Of course it could have something to do with the W/L record. E.g. Had Blaine had the team at 3 and zero, even if Kap was ready, there is no way Gabbert gets pulled. W/L record is ultimately what is important.....so it does have a lot to do with who starts at QB.

NY, I still don't think they pull Gabbert after Dallas...this is not going to be a winning season, no matter what we do. If they want to give Kap a decent chance to showcase his talents, and I think Kelly does, they would wait until the bye, use the legitimate reason of Gabbert's play and our W-L record, and let Kap have as much prep time as possible before the transition. That also gives him the time between now and then to continue to practice, and build up his strength. If they pull Gabbert and put Kap in now, and do it on a short week between Dallas and AZ, that would reek of desperation and poor judgement to me. I don't think where we are is any surprise to the coaching staff. Regardless of what many fans think, we were never supposed to do well this year. This team has had no continuity, and we just had no idea of how some of these guys were going to play , and how long it would take the defense, and the offensive line to come together as unit. So Kelly played his healthy guy, and is letting Kap get ready for his best shot. Now that is the last piece to evaluate. So far I have seen not a lot of surprises. Rookies being rookies, the line has done well in pass pro, not so much in the running game, the defense is playing like a newly formed unit, the WR's suck, and so has Gabbert. So needing to evaluate Kap has to come next. I am still of the opinion that Kap isn't going to do much better, but at least there is a glimmer of hope that he can. But even if he does, this team isn't very good...yet. Another off season, a couple of key pickups, guys coming back with a year in the system. Next year I look for major improvement. I cant believe that the professionals see it much different than that. And if Kap comes in and plays well, we could maybe win more than the 6 games I guessed prior to the season, but I am not going to hold my breath counting on that. A bigger deal than changing the QB right now in my eyes is getting Lynch back. We need to help the defense get a pass rush.
He will be instead into game 7. Will start after the bye for sure. Kap is gonna ball out! 7 Storm is coming!

True bye week might be the time...I think kap would be much much better behind a line that can pass protect in this offensive scheme.

Blaine lacks nuts and is too afraid to make a play that might result in a INT you can't play in the NFL like that IMO.

He's got to get up to his playing weight according to Skip. So, it might not be until towards the end of the season.

No disagreement about how Gabbert is playing, it doesnt bother me that he is not the guy, I always said he needed to prove himself. But in my eyes, so does Kap. This year is all about finding out whats what and who's who. If it is Kap, which i don't believe, fine. But I am betting he does better, but with his own problems. I am still of the opinion we need to find a new QB, somehow, some way. Been saying exactly that for a while. But the entire game could elevate by having the defense get a pass rush. If we can get the D clicking, the offense, under Kap or Gabbert wont have to do as much. And I certainly don't expect much . So lets hope we don't completely suck against the Cowgirls, and I look forward to getting Lynch back the game after that. And after the bye? We will probably be having a cpompletely different conversation!

The Dallas defense is not as good as Seattle, but it isn't chopped liver either. They are 10th in scoring defense, ahead of Carolina.

You already paid him...might as well keep him. Listen I think there is a real chance he plays this year, what I am saying is if he doesn't it was a business decision...nothing more, nothing less.

What are the million reasons? If it's because they don't want him to get hurt then put him on IR not be a active backup who can still get hurt.

dollars man...14 million dollars as in what we paid him this year and what we will pay at a minimum next year if he gets even a boo boo and then waits until December to get it fixed again.

See while kap looked awful in 2015 ( which most of our team did) I don't think he was as horrible as everyone makes him out to be in 2014...4,000 total yards, 61% comp percentage, 20/10 TD/INT with a ton of backups on the OL. I actually saw some passes with touch last yr as well.

He's got a lot to prove and I don't think he's the long term answer but if everyone is saying this is a see who's who yr might as well at qb too.

Yeah I'm excited to see what lynch can do with this team as well. I've bee pleasantly surprised with Brooks as well.
