f**k Fitzpatrick give us them 3 wr's the Jets working with. Still not sure Gabby would push the ball downfield

Agreed...I'd like to think our OL is better than Denver's. I think QB play is equal as well.

IF we can stop the run and make Cam a passer (get a good constant pass rush) we might have a chance. I don't like the quick turnaround time and the fact we have to fly cross country though

You take it seriously and ignore the other comments because you're just trying to prove Romon sucks no matter what.

I get it you hate him. Carry on.

lol relax my man...you're the one that commented under me saying I'd like a little Fitzmagic on the 9ers vs the Blaine train...then you brought up how Roman is a good OC with a better QB/WR ( I mean any OC would be better with a better QB and WR on their team am I right?).

Not sure what comments I'm ignoring

but like you said carry on...

? Yeah you quoted a post about how many 20+ yard plays there were in that gave vs the 49ers game.
I posted a joke because the Bills actually have a QB that can throw the ball down field and a WR that can get open to catch it.

Then you just ignore what we are talking about to tell me how much Roman still sucks.

lol

You could just see how much better from a fundamentals aspect Ftiz is then Blaine. I think Ftiz just knows Chan Gailey's system so well and like you said Decker/Marshall are beasts.

But his throws were on the money last night (against what's suppose to be a good secondary) I think Blaine is better at making the correct read vs Fitz who does get a little confident throwing balls in tight windows (he's got a little Jay Cutler in him lol).

So enough about that game last night.

How many 20+ yard pass plays will the 49ers have against CAR?

I say 1.

you said Roman with a better QB and WR can score points, not anything about throwing the ball down field better (at least in the post I was in).

I would think from that comment you believe Roman is a good OC and just lacked a QB/WR to make his system run...watching that game last night it was easy to see they struggled moving the ball outside of two long bombs where their was busted coverage and a speed demon just blew past an old Revis.

Like I said sorry if I misunderstood what you were actually trying to state, but from the post you wrote under mine you can see why I interpreted it the way I did.

It's all good man

I would agree a 15 yard pass to Patton who gets another 10 in YAC

SoCold is testy this morning. I guess the Tigers lost to the last place Twins AGAIN. They still in it man, relax.

A few things, some of you all are just setting yourself up for disappointment based off of one game the team had all offseason to prepare for. Just because Denver ran on Carolina doesn't mean the 49ers will. The Panthers should have no fear of the 49ers passing game which means loaded box. Those running lanes that Blaine took advantage of disappear against a much more disciplined defense. I think the Panthers OL is the weak link of their team, but can the 49ers exploit it? The Niners are going to have to throw to run in this game. Another thing, this is a young team, so expect uneven play.

All signs point to a lopsided game in favor of Carolina, but you never know.

Good post. I think Carolina's main goal is to shut down Hyde which they will. Make Glaine beat them which he won't. I agree nothing is over until that fat lady sings. When you can't score more than 1 run against the worst team in baseball then it's over. Gonna be Cubs vs Boston because that's what the baseball gods want.

Only way we win is if it is like a Jim Harbaugh win: ugly.
I just want them to throw the ball more on 1st downs. Maybe we see a pass over 20 yards

Maybe that new WR we got can return a kick for a TD?

After we beat Carolina in the playoffs (pretty easily) and everyone thought they were the next top team they went 7-8-1. Their record the last 5 years. 7-9, 12-4, 7-8-1, 15-1, 0-1. This year is super early but Carolina seems to be an up and down team & usually losing a Superbowl doesn't help with that.

This is a game I expect to lose, but excited to see how the 49ers perform against a team that features a different dynamic vs. many other teams in the NFL. The three key watch outs I have are the following:

49ers Pass Rush vs. Cam Newton

It's one thing to get pressure on a UDFA and succeed with a suspect O-line, but it's another thing when it's against a better offensive line with a successful scrambling QB. A QB spy is going to take 1 player out of a pass rush, and an unsuccessful blitz to one of the sides or in the gap is going to allow a BIG opportunity for Cam to scramble or find a checkdown for chunk yards.

This is my biggest worry because if the 49ers stall on offensive drives in a fast paced scheme, then the D is going to get TIRED. We saw what success looks like with Kelly's scheme, I think we are going to see what failure looks like here...

CAR's height advantage vs. our secondary

Keenum played like crap due to poor passes and reads. Cam Newton is a better passer and has a larger margin of error due to his receivers catching radius. Pair that with Greg Olsen, one of the best NFL TEs in the league, and you have serious match up issues.

I think we will get exposed due to an overly aggressive scheme from O'Neal as well. Denver got away with it because they have elite D talent. We are still finding our way to success and this will be a great training ground.

Gabbert vs. the pass rush

I think this is the game where we see some cracks in the interior of the line from Beadles-Kilgore-Tiller. Pressure up the middle to rattle Gabbert - I'm very interested to see how he responds. Gabbert made some great throws once we settled down against the Rams, but he needs to come out of the gate ready to set his feet and fire the throw backed with great conviction.

If we can't sustain drives when CAR stacks the box, then we are putting our D in a position to fail. They will start to crack.

Bonus item: Lee vs. Pinion

With Brandon Thomas and DeAndre Smelter out of the picture, I think fans are going to pay extra attention to this matchup. It's going to be another one of those "damn you Baalke" criticisms.
