Just a reminder that this defensive performance was brought to you by a team with Dorsey and Lynch set to return in a couple weeks.

so the rams the worst team in the NFL ?

I'm going with Cleveland. I bet they tank the season with 15 games to go so they can pick a QB.

The Rams are not the worst team in the NFL. They have a great RB and very good defensive front 7. They were clearly very frustrated tonight. Which is why I'm so pumped about our OL and DL. Great showing by those units. Very encouraging.

We matched up well. A better QB will give our secondary more of a test. But the Rams will win some games this season. Maybe more than a few once they get Goff in there.
Defense is for real. Hyde is for real. O line is for real.

Gabbert... eh
WRs... eh

So glad we won, but a lot was left to be desired. I remain a skeptic.

Next weekend's game against the defending NFC Champion Carolina Panthers is going to tell us a lot about our team. Tonight was a good start, but it's only one game. We dominated Minnesota in the opening game last year with Tomsula coaching. Look how that turned out.

I never believed they were the worst team in the NFL anyways so I wouldn't consider it a fluke but I wouldn't be looking to buy playoff tickets yet either.

There were some legitimately good things to take away from the game that I feel will be consistently strong points for the team throughout the year like the defense and offensive line.

But there are some legitimate bad things that could be major issues throughout the year. Gabbert was very average and the skill positions on the team outside of Hyde did little to show that they aren't one of the worst groups in the NFL. I mean you can't be just gaining 8 yards in the entire 3rd quarter and expect to win a lot games like that because better teams with better offenses are going to make you pay for that.

Unlike last year you can still feel that the team is moving in a positive direction though which given the state the team was in last year is why you want to see this year.

I thought Kerley and Patton looked pretty good. Both ran good routes and had reliable hands. Torrey was thrown a lot of bad balls. He and Gabbert need to improve their chemistry. But Patton and Kerley look like decent receiving options.

I feel Week 3 Seattle is going to be a better test than the Panthers. The NFL couldn't have stacked the schedule more against them with the Panthers game so I wouldn't be terribly shocked if the Panthers win comfortably.

I don't know how the NFL allows a game where one team plays on Thursday and another team play really late Monday night and consider it a level playing field to have that Monday night team fly to the opposite end of the country to play a 10am PST game. And not only allow it once but do the same exact thing to the same exact team two years in a row.

Russel Wilson was pretty hurt on Sunday. At times he didn't even attempt to move after the snap and played flat footed. I know it's a couple of weeks out but if it was a high ankle sprain it could take him a month to get right again.
QB is still ???

But overall I believe the team has improved immensely from last season.

This week's result was good, however the true test comes next week against the Panthers... Unlike LA, the Panthers know how to put points on the board.
Tonight's win is win, 1-0 in the W-L column. Not more, not less.

So much this.

However, according to this board and the press (haven't watched the game yet), we DOMINATED the trenches against a team that indeed is well-staffed in this area. This is a very good sign.

What to expect? Rookies and sophomores can and will run hot and cold during this season, hence we will see bad performances on D as well. Could come this sunday against the Panthers or the week after that. Or they could run hot now and regress later etc.

The only thing that matters this season is the progression. If we observe major steps forward, we are heading in the right direction. Anything like routs and shutouts can and will happen and should not be shocking or fooling anyone, for now.

Yep. At least shows that we're better than the Rams overall, but a win is a win.

Gabbert missed him, twice he was open and did not throw to him. Other times though I did not see cause where the camera angle was on another focus. Gabbert threw the ball in a way that rec did not have a chance to catch and run.

I think the Panthers are a better rounded team. The Dolphins should have won the game if the dunder head wr had not dropped a wide open pass-no one was around him. The team as I hoped is not the same w/o Lynch. Last w/o Kam they were showed their chink in the D, this year the O is their chink. They are still the hags, but I believe they are on the down slide.
