We're not going to know what we have in the passing game, no matter who the QB is, until about 3-4 games into the reg season.

After week 4 is when posts like yours make sense. The o-line needs to form and gel as a unit. The QB's need to get the new offense in their heads and get use to the fast pace. The WR's need to get the routes down, the RB's need to hold onto the ball and the defense needs to get use to yet another DC.

Pre-season is good for getting these things in order. New HC, new system, new DC, new players etc. All while shaking off rust.

I think we're going to be an improved team from last year. Until the regular season proves otherwise.

There is like 12 series a game per team in an NFL game....so I would be absolutely thrilled with a passing TD every 3 drives.
Also, how many offensive drives does Chip average in the NFL?

That's the whole point of his scheme....making that drive number something greater than the league norm. Now I still have my personal question of how this philosophy affects his own defense (I've seen the evidence on both sides) but I'm willing to watch it play out.

For me, the story of the first preseason game was 140 yards passing and 160 yards rushing in the first half. It doesn't guarantee anything, but that production and the way the running game looked had me feeling ok. Make no mistake, I think we will struggle this year (5-6 win team, IMO), but I feel like a foundation can built and could lead to much happier times.
my perspective is he missed the easiest of throws. and not just missed. way off. after weeks of practice. does not bode well.
Espn gave the 49ers #32? Lmao.. dont worry. 49ers will give to Espn make wrong answer or surprise something. 49ers will be back to playoff but hopeful. We will have ready time. Go 49ers! I am BuZZ 49ers fans for good life.
Damn, was hoping for the #1 pick but with at report we'll likely end up 7-9 with the 16th pick

Pretty much exactly how I see it also. Foundation, foundation, foundation.

+1, this team is loaded with potential everywhere except WR,QB, and LBs. I expect us to fix the LB Corp next yr, but never have I seen a decent passing game in the decade of being a 9er fan
Good news.

We can get any worse.

Ouch.... I started going to games in 1978, I forgot how lucky I was to live through the Walsh / Montana years.

I hope we all get to see a great 49er offense again soon.

It feels weird saying that, I know!
Three years ago we were the Number 1 in power rankings we were the superbowl favorites. We went from 1 to 32. Jed and Trent should write a book how to destroy a good team for dummies.

Or you can give them credit for building that contender to begin with. Oh wait, that doesn't fit the Niner fans favorite narrative.
We're ranked 32. Arrow up

You don't need to be a dummy to destroy a team. I literally can't think of anyone on the webzo e that could have done a worse job than Jed. EVEN YOU could run the franchise better.
