It will be a good matchup to watch IMO I think it goes

Smith
Ellington
Patton
Smelter
Rogers
Burbridge

If we keep 6
I'd say Burbridge is a candidate for PS
Patton? I thought I kept reading he was having a bad summer.
They were both meh

most depressing group of WRs I ever seen.
I don't think this is an actual match up, like one of them will be competing directly against the other. Burbridge has said in interviews that he's really only gotten reps in the slot (Y) so far.

I think Smith has the X position locked up.

I think Smelter, Rogers, and Patton are competing at Z.

I think Ellington and Burbridge are competing at Y.

I think Anderson, White, Cajuste, and Simpson need to blow up TC and PS games to stick on the roster.

At least for now.

The comparisons puzzle me, as well.

John Taylor was easily the best natural athlete on the 49ers roster. Burbridge is exceptionally average athletically. JT was an X, while Burbridge practiced mainly at Y all offseason. JT had change of pace/direction and instant acceleration talents to be an outstanding punt returner; Burbridge runs straight through people for whatever YAC he generates.

Hines Ward was regarded as one of the most savvy WRs in football, which was attributed to his experience at QB in college; Smelter has played comparatively little football, and the football he played exposed him to a limited number of concepts and route packages. Smelter is also a much better athlete. All they appear to have in common is physicality.

You must have forgotten the depth chart from the 2011 NFCCG.

I think Smith & Rogers will have productive years...the rest?

Thanks baalke.

Well other than Torry they all make near league minimum, so I guess the next move would be to try to dump Torry.

the 2004 roster of woods. hamilton miss lloyd and others who I have tried to block out were pretty impressive. the best wide out group i think would have been 78 with jack steptoe and elmo boyd

you guys are funny. how do you guys get through the day? i think it is fun and exciting to see a bunch of hungry young kids coached by a good wide out coach which we have not had around here forever
Good lord that list is so bad.

I wonder how Kelly is going to make this work.

The list at TE and RB and OL isn't much more impressive.

And we don't have a QB set. Smh baalke.

I would rather take established veterans or top prospects instead over scrubs and late round picks.
