This. Aldon was the dominant pass rusher that this team needed, a guy that opposing offenses always had to account for.

I dont see them making the SB without him and some of the huge plays he made in 2011 and 2012.

Without Aldon they likely would never have been in that SB.

Some thoughts on this:

1. How the hell did ATL know we wanted Jones. WTF is this s**t? Way too many leaks.
2. Harbaugh just trying to get all the talent from that area to MI.
3. HaRoman would have killed Julio's career before it started.

People are reading way too much into this. Harbaugh could just be talking. Coaches say 'ish like that all the time. I think it's just for the cameras.

Going into the draft, Newton, Miller, Dareus, Peterson, Green, and Julio were widely considered the top prospects (Newton was a bit of a wildcard because of the off field issues). Not surprising at all that a team would try to trade up to 6 if they felt there was a dropoff between the players at 6 and 7.

The Falcons may have had Julio ranked higher than 6 on their board and may have tried trading for him before the 6th pick. It's common sense that the 49ers may be interested in arguably the best player left at a position of need so jumping ahead of 7 isn't surprising.

Crabtree is a better run blocker than Julio.

A major factor of evaluating a player is does he get on the field. In Aldon's case the answer is no. As a 49er fan we still have those glorious memories of Cowboy, Aldon, Pat and Bo and the rest of a great D that with a few breaks could have put 2 or 3 more Super Bowl trophy's in the case.

Name an NFL team that DIDN'T like Julio Jones coming out that year.

The rest of this talk is b******t that feeds into the pocket of fans that are yearning for an NFL top 5 receiver at any cost.

Aldon Smith derailed a hall of fame career on his own. Before then, you could almost definitively argue he was the best front 7 player in the entire league. Not just as a pass rusher.

Both are over and done. We have some pretty serious looking talents on the roster right now. Maybe we can focus on them.
