why is that? its fun. you want to go back in time. i could talk all day about the best niner team that never was in the playoffs and that was the 76 team.. it is fun and it is important for us to spend some time( even though former poster buck hated it) to discuss and reflect back upon our history in my opinion

I can talk about it with Niner fans..but most my friend were 8-10 years old when that game was played. It just doesnt come up much

when i was 8 nine ten the only thing that existed in our world was playing out side. riding bikes and talking football,. esp on monday morning at school when the sunday games were over. we used to play adam 12 on our bikes and only stopped to get a bottle of ten cent pop at the gas station and did get to come inside at 3;30 to watch dark shadows. i have no point here

uhmmm... It looked like that because of all the free agent signings .. players WHO WANTED TO PLAY FOR THE 49ERS signed with us even if it's only for one year.. but even then, Miami if I recall was signing free agents after free agents, and could not get it done..

1994 team still had to perform and produce.. but I do believe that WITHOUT DEION, we wouldn't have gotten in the Super Bowl that year.

the 1997 team with Rod Woodson and Kevin Greene and Alfred Williams were a bunch of free agents who signed w/us for just about a year.. that team had paid about the same amount to the free agents they signed that year, but DID NOT WIN THE SUPER BOWL..

So what? It's not like they broke any rules, as ANY team could hae spent the money. I only wished they would have kept Deion after that year, would have kept their defense over the edge. Why did they always give their key to SuperBowls to dallas - Haley, Deion? If they held onto them, I'm sure 10 Lombardi's would be in the trophy case.

Sour grapes. Debartolo just played by the rules of the game at the time. With the advent of the salary cap, the Niners had to change the way they did business, just like the rest of the NFL. Don't care if anyone wants to say the Niners bought the Super Bowl that year. Just look at how many teams have tried to put together "Dream Teams" and spend 100's of millions of dollars in the current system to win a title and failed. Niners spent the money, picked the right players, and won the Super Bowl. End of story.
