Good chance Kap plays plenty next season. Given the woeful state of the Niners OL, it's a crapshoot whether Gabbert or Palmer is the first with a season-ending injury. Even Gabbert's sub-2-second release won't prevent his getting hammered.

those 3 players will not be with the 49ers in 3 years while Joe Thomas will still be an ALL PRO until he's 37 if he can stay healthy..

Do you guys really believe that REID, ELLINGTON & LYNCH are all that?????

you don't like the trade idea, then say so and provide a reason or two on why you are against it??

I'm throwing ideas out there that I believe can make the team better... if you don't think that it's a good idea, then lets talk because I am always more than willing to listen and have a good and friendly debate..

instead of posting IDIOTIC THINGS alone, why not share your MOJAVE DESERT idea..???

I see no reason why Reid and Lynch wont be with the Niners, and I very much doubt Thomas will be All Pro when he is 37. Throwing away young and developing players to pick up a 32 year old would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Lynch in particular has a great future ahead of him.

I see no reason why Reid and Lynch wont be with the Niners, and I very much doubt Thomas will be All Pro when he is 37. Throwing away young and developing players to pick up a 32 year old would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Lynch in particular has a great future ahead of him.

I could see Thomas being one of those guys who plays at a high level until the day he retires. He's stayed amazingly healthy and his play hasn't really slipped. Bruce Matthews esque. But the odds are against it unfortunately.

We did not address OLB in the draft and now that Aaron Lynch is suspended four games we need a more reliable OLB, a stud who we can make a trade for before the regular season starts.

I did share what I thought of your idea. I don't need to come up another bad idea to know the one you proposed was horrible, IMO. Asking me to try to come up with an idea just as bad as that one, jyst to make conversation is an exercise in futility...Why would I waste my time doing that? You seem to be doing enough of that for everyone. I don't spend a lot of my late night time trying to dream up stuff that makes no sense, but hey I never said you weren't free to post that kind of stuff. If you want a serious discussion with me, take a serious position on a subject and I will discuss it.

I already mentioned that trading away 3 of our young players for an aging star during a rebuild is a terrible idea. How much more discussion on that do you really want? How do you rebuild a team by trading young players for old ones? We aren't contenders where one or two guys are turning the corner on a playoff run. If you dont understand that it makes it hard to hold a serious discussion.

What matters most is HOW O'Neil is going to scheme. If he views the SAM position in a more traditional sense, your SAM will only rack up 40-50 tackles, have around 6-7 sacks and have a number of pressures. This is b/c the SAM's role is to play on the strong side so really, the pass rush is secondary to getting up field, setting the edge and funneling RB's back into the defense and not give the edge...THEN, if it's a pass and the TE and RB stay in, they will pass rush. In Fangio's scheme, this is how he used Brooks and he used the WILL, Aldon/Skuta's role to be a pass rusher first and everything else, second.

With Brooks at SAM, if O'Neil plays this more traditional, you're not going to lose much for the first 4 games with Lynch out. However, if O'Neil is big on disguise and moving players around and utilizing both his OLB's more in pass rushing FIRST, you're going to see a number of combinations with guys like Carradine/Harold/Hodges/Brooks/Bowman/Tartt, etc. all rushing from both the SAM and WILL spots.

That might be another way to make up for the loss of Lynch for the first 4 games.
