Are we the worst team in football?

We were the worst team before BW was hired and we were still the worst his first year, but improved every year after that. Let's see what Chip does this year and next. We just might be pleasantly surprised...
Worst managed, yes

Probably the worst font office.

The same front office we went to the Superbowl with? Lol.

And the same one that tore it all down.

And the same one that hired tomsula and mike singleterry as head coach.

And the same one that hired Harbaugh and Chip Kelly.

I think these dudes in the front office are bi-polar.

Naw just dumb.

Singleterry was dumb, tomsula was dumber.

Harbaugh was smart then letting him go was dumber then the two moves stated above.

Chip, we 'll see. Jim O'Neil though... Lol

I think we had the worst season, but we aren't the worst team, if that makes sense.

But honestly we should be picking #1 in this draft imo.

Tennessee actually had the Raiders beat so they aren't as bad as their record, not that Oakland is a measuring stick.
This is such a opinionated question tbh that it really depends on your perspective. From mine a good writer can spin things however they want.

The writer speaks about Oakland, Jacksonville, and Tampa having "quarterbacks." Insinuating that all are young franchise signal callers in the making. So was Kaepernick and Josh Freeman at one time. Remember when Christian Ponder actually looked like an NFL qb late in the 2012 season? Where is he now? Obviously Bortles, Winston, and Carr look the part but it should be taken with a huge grain of salt that any of them will become superstars. Player's careers derail quickly in the NFL all the time.

Saying Cleveland has a "vision" is kind of blanket statement. Why is their "vision' anymore meaningful then the 49ers? Because they have a new head coach and a crazy front office set up now? The 49ers had a "vision" too when they hired Chip Kelly or they wouldn't have hired him.

I don't think the 49ers are the worst franchise. There are too many teams in the league with far worse playoff and or championship droughts. And another good writer could use that narrative to fit their perspective from another angle to spin the debate another way. Just all one big open ended question that's all it is. Nothing more, nothing less. For the writer of that article its just a rhetorical one too.

I can't think of any team that has ever fallen as far and as fast as the 49ers did. It was an amazing collapse, and it was mostly self-inflicted. Yes, there was some bad luck, but the bad decision making and the bad management are primarily to blame.

Bad franchises are defined by bad management and few teams have done a worse job over the last two years than the 49ers. So the criticism is warrented. That being said, bad franchises are also defined by futility and a losing record over many years. The 49ers are only a couple years removed from a winning record. If they can turn it around under Chip Kelly, the last couple years will be seen as a down period and the "worst franchise" label will be forgotten.
The fact the we are even in the conversation should have been enough to fire a GM after 6 years, 3 head coaches and 50 draft picks. This is a beautiful part of the country and players would be flocking here if Baalke/York didn't suck.

This. Didn't even need to read the article to know it's b******t. A few short years ago we were the "worst" team in sports and then a new coach and a few personnel tweaks later we made it to the NFC Championship game. Magically, many in the media began saying that we had "the best roster in the NFL."

Not saying Chip is going to have us back in contention in one offseason, but I do think the situations are comparable -- a young roster with a bunch of talent but the previous regime just didn't have a clue. IMO, no way in hell can anyone with even a shred of objectivity can say we're currently worse off than the Ravens (who might have a QB but nothing else), Browns, Texans, Jax, Chargers, Titans, Bucs, and the list goes on.
This is a team ran by men who got a little big for their britches, men who I believe learned that they made a monumental mistake and have done what they can to rectify that mistake. Baalke isn't perfect, but one thing I have always really admired is how quick he normally is to realize the mistake and rectify it as quickly as possible. Jed is far far from perfect and has a LOT of growing and maturing to do, but I believe he wants the 49ers to win. I don't believe either man does anything without believing what they are doing is the best for the team and I can live with that.

Our roster is young and we have gone through 2 straight years of bad bad coaching. The roster has some nice young talent at several positions. We have tried and true veterans at some others. The cap is in fantastic shape and there are no large looming contracts on the immediate horizon. I think the 49ers are far from the worst team in the NFL. We are down yes, we are rebuilding and we have a lot of improving to do but not the worst team in the NFL by far in my eye's . Rose colored or otherwise that's the way I see it.

Honestly the only game we should have won last year was Week 1. Unfortunately if you catch a team on an off week, this is the NFL and as they say...on any given Sunday!

LMAO. Haven't even started the year-2 off season yet...good time to kick a rebuilding team when they are down. Given there are THREE articles on this topic all at the same time, this reeks of an "topic for the week." Next week it will be some other provoking topic of another fan base.
Lol, no. We had a backup QB as starter, a DL coach as HC, lost half our best players to retirement, a banged up OL, RB's off the street and still finished better than the Cowgirls.

We'll be better this season, no doubt. Can't wait to prove all the haters and media geniuses wrong.
The media just loves to pile on when a team's down...the question in my mind is, when Kelly gets our team on a roll, will they throw any compliments the Niner's way...probably not. There's always been and always will be an Eastern NFL bias...and no matter what the Niners do, they'll never get the positive attention. So, I've learned to ignore these kind of stories accordingly. Sometimes I question the Zone for including so much negativity...it gets rather unbalanced at times.

Well stated!

The Ravens are so dumb, they signed their statue ACL QB to a mega extension while rehabbing!
