I was just curious about how many people think Kap is or isn't going to be on the team next year. I suppose there are people who just can't not talk about why they think Kap should or shouldn't be on the 9er team this year (rather than simply whether or not their hunch is that he will or will not be); if so, that is unfortunate since that topic has been discussed to death in the Kap thread and I can't imagine that anything new would come out of such a discussion in this thread. But If that is what it devolves into I have no problem with the moderators locking this thread.

Kap has not shown a mature approach to being a person in the spotlight. His early interviews consisted of one word answers with head headphones draped around his neck. He does not have the field vision or awareness in the pocket to run a quick decision offense that Chip runs. His sideline throws are 50-50 completion-interception ratio. Kap has regressed every year. Many of us have followed the Niners for years, Y.A. Brodie, Joe, Steve and Garcia have shown us what to look for in a QB, I don't see it in Kap.

This is the best scenario for all parties involved.

I think he'll be here and given a chance to compete for the starting job. Its kind of hard to judge him with the coaching staff we had last year

I'm thinking 12M isn't that much to gamble on whether you have a franchise quarterback or not, plus coming off an injury they will have to pay him anyway. See if Chip can coach him up or if check down Charlie is the Niners future QB. I still would like a early pick such as Goff, I'm sure either Gabby or Kap could be solid trade bait if needed. Chips offense needs a good QB with a good backup. I'm giving the team a Mulligan for last year, still pissed but after being a born Niner fan since 1957, I given them Mulligans for many past mistakes (OJ, Joe Thomas, Erickson, Nolan II, Sing but I'll never will forgive the Yorks) to name a few.

The problem with this thinking is #1 money and #2 holding onto a player with a bad attitude. If Kap wants out then something needs to give BEFORE April 1st. If you can't trade him, you release him. I'd rather have 12 Million OFF the books and no compensation then a disgruntled player making 12 Million.

After watching this video I don't think Kap has what it takes to thrive in Kelly's offense. As a passer he can't make more than one read and he's not accurate. These are two things that Kap can't just spend a summer learning and mastering. It takes years and years to develop and own these skills. Harbaugh took advantage of Kap's skill set with a team that was ready to win now while the rest of the league played catch up on how to defend this one trick pony.

Kelly should draft his guy and develop him. Something he's never done on the pro level. That way there's no excuses for Kelly if it doesn't pan out. I don't want Kelly keeping Kap and us not drafting a QB this year. Then say it doesn't work out with Kap. Then Kelly drafts a QB the following year or two later which buys him more time as coach.

I still am a huge Kaep fan, but if he doesn't want to /can't run as fast and scramble anymore, he's pretty much just a qb with a ''peaked'' skill set.

I hope I'm wrong. One of my fav qbs' ever but that swag and killer instinct seems forever gone. I don't know if it was the broad or what. but this is the same guy that taunted Cam Newton , did the swag Kaepernick bicep kiss that drove bros across the world apey, and could outrun any defense.


He's throwing sizzrup type interceptions and getting shoetackled by DE's in 2015. WTF. Kaep.
