Gotta give jed some credit with this particular situation. He had the balls to fire his best friend. He'd earned A LITTLE respect back from me

Have heard the Payton to SF may be real. Said earlier no chance. I might have been wrong

Sure but he has a $10.5 Million severance that should keep him fed.

True it's not like he got fired from a construction site but it never feels good to be told you didn't do good enough and lets face it that dude got shuffled a tough hand to play.

Entire coaching staff are out... meaning OC and DC or everybody including assistants?

Better at least keep Rathman.

eff rathman. What has he done?

Definitely more than you're giving him credit for.

Seriously... have you ever even heard of Shawn Droughn or DuJuan Harris before they were signed a few weeks back? What about Bruce Miller converting from a college DE to a stud FB? Dude is a RB whisperer!
Hallelujah!

What has Sean Peyton done after his HOF Qb became above mediocre? Or that time he was ban from the whole god damn league for a year? This guy will bust in the bay. BOOK IT.

Sometimes guys just need a fresh start. He has an impressive resume and that is what you should look for when hiring for an important position. There are other options out there but he should definitely be on the list.
But Jed said Tomsula was going to be the next Steve Kerr!

Its a shame that such a great and dedicated position coach had to go out like that.

Bring on Sean Payton or Chip Kelly.

You never know. Gunther Cunningham was a defensive coordinator for the Chiefs after being head coach. Though considering the rumor that he lobbied for this job while Harbaugh was there, if this rumor is true, I wouldn't even want him back as a DL coach. It's a shame because he certainly could coach them up.

Aubrayo Franklin (made huge strides, was a good NT, then bounced around after he left us)
Isaac Sopoaga (played out of his mind in 2011 and got a huge contract from Philly. Only to totally fall off the moment he left San Francisco)
Ricky Jean-Francois (7th round pick turned borderline starter during his tenure and parlayed it into a nice deal with the Colts)
Tony Jerod-Eddie (UDFA turned ok rotational player)
Glen Dorsey (Chiefs first round bust that became a solid starting NT for us)
Justin Smith (NEVER had a Pro-Bowl or All-Pro season until he got to San Francisco. A fact conveniently ignored).

Best of luck to Jim Tomsula. I hope he doesn't end up on an NFC team. He will make a great DL coach for someone else, but had no business ever being a HC and likely won't ever get a shot as defensive coordinator either.
Very fun firing. Didn't think they'd do it

i agree. The last few weeks even Maiocco was saying by firing Tomsula, Jed would have to admit fault for getting rid of Harbaugh and because of that he would not do that. Glad York checked his ego at the door and got rid of him

Now that 49ers have parted ways with Jim Tomsula, they are expected to explore idea of hiring Saints HC Sean Payton, per @mortreport and me.

Keep an eye on Sean Payton and the #49ers. If the #Chargers are keeping Mike McCoy, this is Payton's best chance to move near his daughter

Hope he brings Drew Bree's with him

Even if he doesnt, still

Belichek couldn't hold my jock without Tom Brady. Your God Bill Walsh is nothing without Joe Cool.. Landry had a HOF qb. You see the common denominator that everyone is choosing to ignore because Sean Leyton is that big blue ZAP machine and you are next.
