Actually, I'm wondering why we have 2 receivers slamming into each other 2 yards from the line of scrimmage. He should have got the ball out quicker there.

count it; 2.5 seconds before contact max, and the half second was when he had to start to bail with the free man steaming down on him..Not on Gabbert, on that s**t storm of oline and WR play..

I am thinking this is one of those plays where I am screaming... JUST GET RID OF THE BALL! I mean, even if you throw it low at the guy's feet, just get rid of it!!!!

He could sense/see the pressure, and you dont want a qb to start throwing passes as he is hit, thats when you get passess floating in the middle of the field or strip sacks. He started moving to clear some space to throw and the guy behind him got him.

Needs some guts. Throw the ball. That's what he is paid for. If he wants a soft job, work in an office.

Tomsula was given a playoff team, then some pro bowlers left, now he was stuck teaching more then he needed, as a first year coach, it tough. He also was forced to make Kap work out in the offense and that failed and at least offensively that's why we are in this position. Not saying Gabbert would make them a playoff team, but if he was playing first game we would be be at least still contending for a playoff spot right now

Actually, he was given an 8-8 team who then lost several starters to Retirement, Free Agency, and Stupidity.

Agreed. I'm NOT a fan of Tomsula but he had absolutely NO chance. No HC would. Period.

Just a massive amount of injuries the past two years that pretty much threw any chance of a professional offense or defense down the toilet (save for Fangio, of course).

The team went 8-8 with the same issues last year. This season really highlights the importance and what a difference coaching makes. Team is no longer prepared for road trips and 10am starts. Harbaugh used to make sure the team was prepared on those days.
We are such a mess. This f****** sucks

Jim would have had the team stay in Ohio for the week. Prob take them to the football HOF and teach them about what it means to be great. Ah those were the days.

Total Rubbish.

Great coaches are like great players, they make something out of nothing. Tomsula made nothing out of something.

At elite levels of sport, the closeness of physical attributes and skill are like 1% overall (everything taken into account).

Winning, and winning football teams rely on mental preparation. A coach provides psychological support, encouragement, triggers, etc, etc. That is coaching. The psychology of winning. The head coach provides this. Prepares his players mentally. Knows each player individually and coaches him at a personal level. Each and every team member. A coach shouldn't coach a group of 50 players. He should coach them individually.

Tomsula cant cut it. He cant keep his players focussed. He does have a degree of psychological skill, as he has had a couple of good games, even 1 he lost. But he cant gel the team psychologically to win consistently. Tomsula is exposed at this level. Great coach in Europe...

A great coach would have this side 9-4.

That played without Bowman, and had several key injuries that year, that's why I considered them a playoff team

You must've missed the 30 or so passes that the guy had thrown since he's started as he was getting hit or just about to get hit. I haven't watched the coaches film yet to see what/why things happened, but this was a total team meltdown.

I'm in no way making excuses for Tomsula's coaching, but no teams, even with half the turnover the 49ers had, never have a good season.

I could not agree more that coaching, scheme, philosophy, development, etc. is absolutely crucial. And I also agree that Tomsula is not the guy to make magic with smoke and mirrors but these are the facts...when you have THAT many injuries, you're pretty much eff'd. Just look at this list of horrendous teams, many of which, were picked to win the Superbowl...injuries derailed everything. So 9-4? I don't think so in this case. Too much key personnel gone. That's not advocating for having Tomsula and staff back...just say'n that context should not be ignored.

Oakland Raiders 6 & 7 - Spent like $200B in FA
Buffalo Bills 6 & 7 - Well, Roman is there, so there's that. Kidding...but with that much running success, still, 6 & 7?
Houston Texans 6 & 7 - We all know this tune.
Miami Dolphins 5 & 7 - Ouch
Jacksonville Jaguars 5 & 8 - But did just drop 51 on the Colts (also 6 & 7; Superbowl aspirations). Go Gore, go!
Baltimore Ravens 4 & 9 - And we thought we had issues. Star QB with ACL/MCL tears and no out-contract like we have with CK.
San Diego Chargers 3 & 10 - Moving truck's already backed up. PS: Thanks for the high 5th!
Cleveland Browns 3 &10 - Johnny Football...and he just took a s**t on us!
Tennessee Titans 3 & 10 - Poor Walker.
Atlanta Falcons 6 & 7 - Easily picked favorite to run away with this division after Kelvin Benjamin went down for the Panthers.
Philadelphia Eagles 6 & 7 - This is what happens when you give personnel power to a HC.
New York Giants 5 & 7 - We almost beat them.
St. Louis Rams 5 & 8 - Many picked to win the NFC West (again) with 30 more 1st round picks.
New Orleans Saints 5 & 8 - Epic collapse and welcome to Salary Cap Hell.
Chicago Bears 5 & 8 - Fox, Gase & Fangio. WTF?
Detroit Lions 4 & 9. How?
San Francisco 49ers 4 & 9 - Ownership and coaching choices.
Dallas Cowboys 4 & 9 - Problems all over the place.

Widely regarded as the "Off season from hell" by media and everyone for a reason! And then the in-season injuries just ended any hope whatsoever IMHO.

Coaches last year had more injuries. Same excuses poorer results.

Id say this post was an interception. Not good.
