All those guys were 6th or 7th round draft picks, if my memory serves me correctly. Gabbert was picked 8th overall. So far he passes the eye test, letting a QB sit a few years makes a world of difference. In today's NFL high picks are starting immediately and don't have the time to mature. Gabbert could be the answer then again let's wait.

I realize it's only two games but that drive before the end of the half yesterday was very impressive.
The most impressive thing about him to me is that he's decisive and sees the field unlink Kap or Alex
who hang on to the ball too long before they start to scramble or take a sack.

Our standards for QB play have been low for a really long time now. Its almost as if our fanbase has forgotten what a good, productive QB looks like. We haven't had one of those since Garcia. Thought it was going to be Kap the way he lit the world on fire early on....but that ship has obviously sailed.

Some of you guys must be high. No way we give this dude anywhere near 5 million a year after two games. Do you know how many QBs have a short stretch of success only to be shot back down to earth once the league studies them? Matt Cassell, Nick Foles and even our own guys like Shaun Hill. Dont let the fact that he was the 10 pick in the draft persuade you. Lets see this dude give us full season before you decide he's worth "locking up."

Starting qb price is much more than a backup. Just for reference, Alex Smith signed a 1 year deal at 5mil in 2011. He hasn't won any playoff game, just coming off an improved back end of 2010 year. That's 4 years ago. The price goes up since.
If Gabbert continued to play well. He will get 5mil a year for a starter. I can see the Niners redo his contract/extension in the middle of 2016 to adequately reflect starter status. Baalke would not want this guy go to FA.
