I enjoy the depth of this group.

I think Cromartie is BETTER than both Acker and Brock, yup I said it!!! I just don't think Acker or Brock could've covered thos Atlanta receivers the way he did, he blanketed Jones. Yes Jones had 137 receiving yards, BUT not all of that was on Cromartie AND Jones had ZERO TD's, IMO that's what mattered the most. And I'm not sure how much snaps Roddy White had, BUT seriously holding White to 1 catch for 20 yards HAS to mean something and credit HAS to go somewhere. How about Justin Hardy, speedy slot receiver held to 4 catches for 17 yards. That is a serious trio held without TD's....I'd go as far as to start them the rest of the season!!!

I feel like Brock plays off to much and doesn't have the speed to catch up. He's gotten burned so many times that I've seen. I hope they stay with Cromartie and Johnson.
Agree about brock.

But in terms of cromartie, he had one really good game. I think we need to relax on anointing anyone who performs well. Yes, he should continue to get reps, but we should wait before we start saying he is better then both Brock and acker, those guys have a lot more tape. Acker especially is someone I think should continue to get more snaps as he has improved when oven the chance, something that is great to see.

I think its being based more on that Cromartie and Johnson was covering argueably the best WR in the league right now and althought he got some yards, he did not get into the endzone. Plus those CB's played a huge part in Freeman rushing for only 12 yards.

Question is can they repeat the same in Seattle.

It's exactly the fact of how they played RW and JJ pretty tight, and was also a factor in run support. Brock has made a ton of mistakes this season and has really been inconsistent so far. But I just think Cromartie and DJ are exactly what the defense needs, size, speed and physical play, Brock and Bethea are soft and Acker is a second year player so he kinda gets a pass.

People like to point out that it's just one game, but that was a ton of potential DJ and MC showed us and it's a start, gotta start somewhere.

Again, not saying they didnt have a good game, and im also not saying they are bad players and cant be successful. But lets see them do it for a while before we go out on a limb and act like we found our tandem to build around moving forward. This kind of thing reminds me of the dark ages of niners football where any body who had a good game was deemed the next big thing. Again great game, but lets see if they can do it against Seattle, and then arizonia, etc. I guess im just more reserved then most on here. Blaine had a good game, doesnt mean i think he is the modern jim plunkett like some fans on here seem to think he will be, now does he have the ability to do well, yes. But its one game guys, any given sunday, these guys could have just had a great game. I just would like to see these young guys get reps so we can begin to have an idea where they could fit in to our plans.

Sorry philosoraptor I was speaking in general and not necessarily towards you.
johnson just makes too much sense. he's a lock down corner on the outside with 4.4 speed at 6ft 2 and plays the ball. every time they said you go play outside and cover the guy he has no matter who it has been.
the slot is the only place he's had trouble. he's not a slot db. why does he need to be? if you can put 1 guy in press man on the outside and forget about him why don't you do it????

lol

LOL you think it's actually just one game, Cromartie and Johnson started for the 49ers last year well not at the same time but they did start. One had a good game vs. the Rams with a pick-6, the other showed potential vs. the Chargers and Cards of what we saw this past Sunday. I'm just tired of seeing Tramane Brock, nothing but fools gold dude get's beat all the time, he'd be better playing Jimmie Wards role instead of playing outside.

Johnson came off the bench his rookie season covered dez bryant and gave up nothing.

he didn't give up anything on the outside all last year every time he was asked to play

once again he hasn't given up anything on the outside once you play him. how much more tape of a dude not giving up stuff on the outside playing man to man do you need to see before you say ok defense we should probably put this dude on the outside to a side and let him lock that receiver up because its 1 less thing we have to worry about?

I'm so with you. Folks please pump the brakes. Cromartie is no where close to Acker. Great game by both DJ and he, but we've seen DJ get toasted some, along with Cromartie last season.
