Falcons were 6-2 with the NFL's #4 offense. Not a great team by any means, but not a bad one either and they had the NFL's leader in rushing yards. He finished with 12 yards rushing.


It was a good win against an overrated but decent opponent.

The Falcons lost to the Bucs, lost to the Saints, and barely beat the Titans and Redskins. Now they lost to Blaine Gabbert. Theyre just a mediocre team with an easy schedule.

We will know next win. We might still lose, but what I'm looking for is for the team to keep the game close, and for Gabbert to play well.

Take it for what it is and have hope. This is a VERY young team now. We got rid of every player over 30 with the exception of Navarro. Look at them! Bunch a freakin snot-nosed kids out there!

And that is the thing about youth. One week they will show enormous potential and give you hope for the future. The next week they'll play so horrifically that fans will come away with the depressing thought of "we gotta tear this thing down and start over."

Is Gabbert our QB of the future? Probably not. Is Tartt hitting like Ronnie Lott did? By jove, yes he is.

Point is, there is something there to build on. Just don't expect to see it week in and week out yet.

The team needs to build on confidence going into the off season preparing for next year. Tomsula isn't the same type of coach as Harbaugh that will build a teams confidence by his action and words.

Yes and as with what MarkD said this appears to be part of the transition process of a new coaching era for the 49ers. Harbaugh was very good for the team at the time and had a different style to Tomsula.

There has been plenty of criticism of Tomsula this year but this is to be expected with a new coach and a new style that is not delivering to the expectations of the fans and not instantly winning.

For me the jury is still out on Tomsula. Although some of the reasons behind some of the changes he has made are baffling to me I have also seen him do some very clever things as well.

Perhaps it is my own inexperience as to why I am baffled by some of his decisions.

The proof is in the rest of the season and that is a ways to go yet.

But the win against the Falcons gave me some more confidence in the direction the team is going. Not just because they one but because there was a new dynamic, a new buzz, a new confidence and on appearances it looked like some of the changes were starting to come together. The next few games will be interesting.

Give the poor performance of the defence it is starting to look like a DEAD CAT BOUNCE.

Gabbert's was keeping his argument open but the defence was shocking.

One indicator that we would be on the way up would be consistency in both offence and defence.

Defence is up and down like a Yo Yo.
