Barring a miraculous transformation, the Niners are out of any kind of contention. Now that I have accepted that, I have started evaluating the players currently on the roster. How would you categorise them? In no particular order, mine is something like: No brainer keeper: 14 Hyde Staley Bowman Torrey Smith Brock Ian Williams Lynch Ward Miller Celek Dawson Reid Mccray Ward Bethea Need more PT for evaluation: 15 Arik Armstead Trent Brown Jaquiski Blake Ball Brandon Thomas Eli Harold Mike Davis Gaskins Hodges Johnson Pinion Purcell Simpson White Drew Anderson Could be upgraded: 13 Kaepernick Dial Dorsey Ellington Gabbert Martin Mcdonald Kyle Nelson Patton Skove Tiller Acker Reaser Probably gone: 6 Boone Lemonier Boldin Wilhoite Jerod-Eddie Silberman Gone next season (released or traded): 6 Davis Brooks Pears Carradine Bush Devey

Silberman is a rookie so doubt it that they'd give up on him.

Armstead, Harold, Tartt, Brown, those guys are not going anywhere.

Simpson played pretty well, I think he's a good WR.
