Thankfully for Hyde, wisdom has finally prevailed.

Without Hyde and our offensive line vs. the Rams pass rush we're going to be 2-6.
I also saw a stat that said our pass defense is ranked 31st. That makes sense. We have no pass rush!

This is going to be a scary.
They have a good front 7 and our C, RG, RT and RBs are backups at best.

So... we're going to have to pass like crazy in order to win. Going to have to run pick routes all day. And Kaepernick is going to have to have designed runs as well. It sounds like this week we intend to go max protect and hope to use routes that get receivers open quickly. In my opinion, our only chance at producing anything would be the following...
In the passing game: Misdirection, trickery, max protect, hot routes, rub/pick routes, RB screens, and timing patterns
In the running game: Traps, Wham plays, and designed QB runs.
That is how I would gameplan for St. Louis.

Wait, we trying to win this game? I like the idea of Trap/Wham runs to take advantage of how aggressive STL's front 4 will be with gaining penetration. Max protect sounds nice but then sending out 2 or 3 routes only makes it harder for those routes to get open. I don't see STL blitzing much because they shouldn't have to. So that's 3 routes versus 7 in coverage. Not sure what their blitz tendency is.
STL's front 4 might be as good as SEA's (or better), but their LBs are not as good as SEA's. I'd like to try again at getting Bush involved in the passing game along with Celek/Vance. I can see Kap rollouts working better as that attempts to attack the LBs. The team can't run screen plays well so I'm still hoping for some draw plays since that attempts to achieve the same purpose - slow down the pass rush.

I was thinking the same thing. Box will be loaded and it will open some 1 v 1 coverage. As good as STL front 7 is their back end is not nearly as talented. I know we're not New England in anyway shape or form but they beat the #1 defense (NYJ) by air only. They didn't even try to run the ball. W e have to try to do the same.

With our line, my plan would be to miss the plane.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the game plans calls for Colin Kaepernick to use his legs to win the game, especially now that Carlos Hyde is out.
Oh they'll try to use Reggie Bush but in the long run,it will be Kaep that will be doing most of the running.
I think that at this point they don't care if Kaep gets injured or not, they have a backup in Gabbert that they're itching to try out anyway. Win and they give themselves the credit for devising such a brilliant plan, lose and they can blame it (yet again) on Kaep. Nothing to lose here.
I think that unless a MIRACLE happens, the 49er's have a slim and no chance of making the playoffs and I think that they've aware of that. All they're trying to do now is to salvage the season as best as they can. If for some reason, they start winning ... then they can pat themselves on the back and say ... I told you so, being the prophet that they are.
