I would love nothing more than to return our organization back to the high powered offensive juggernaut we once were.
It's going to start with a new coaching regime and then new QB. Someone like Hue Jackson or Sean Payton paired up with a young talent to groom like Jared Goff. Oh man!!

You need a new coach and OC.
And...
New QB, WR's, and probably 3 OL.

Biggest modern mistake was letting the WCO leave the building after the 2002 season. It's should have continued to be our identity and guided our personnel descision. Currently, GB is doing what we should have continued to do. They are thriving with the philosophies made by Walsh and given to them by Holmgren.

The day Steve Mariucci was fired was the day our dynasty officially died.
It was the post-Eddie D ownership group knocking their first idiotic domino into what has been a long chain of this franchise toppling over.
They thought that because Mariucci wasnt winning Super Bowls, he needed to go.
Unfortunaley, until the York's sell the team to a new group of owners who know how to run an NFL franchise, we will never fix things.

Ive been harping on this for a while. Our organzation sucks at offense. Period. Blame qbs or o lines or OCs all you want..the Niners have been bad at offense for over a decade. No matter who come in and who goes out..we always suck on offense. The best we've been was 2012 when we were 11th.
Nolan came in and we started the defense first mentality which gave us our a taste as success and took us to a SB. But we've been bottom of the barrel on offense for a long time. A teams identity comes from its offense..not its defense. We need to honestly go back to our WCO foundations. Stop b******tting and lets do what will actually give us longbterm success. Drafting guys with busted acls-the worst injury in football-is not it. We gotta get back to playing great offense.
To accomplish this we prob need a new GM. Just look at Baalkes drafts on the offensive side and you'll see why. Very little production. We need Jed to go to just cutting checks, a new president and a new GM. The longer they ignore that and keep going in circles the longer we will suck. Sorry to say, but im not optimistic about this team being good within the next 10 years.

Yeah, well, Baalke doesn't commit to the offense. He'd rather trade for starters and pick up guys in free agency.

I wonder if he would come back?

We have had a steady line of defensive coordinators, turned head coach, and now we have a defensive line coach, turned head coach, defensive coaches never have aggressive offensive styles, always super conservative, low scoring run based football.

Helps a little that they have Aaron Rodgers.

Would help to have a GM who knows the west coast offense and can identify the players needed for it. Baalke is not that guy.

It's just so f**king ironic that the birthplace of the West Coast offense can't seem to get back to it

As soon as the Yorks let a competent football man run the operation other than Baalke can we expect change. My initial observation is for the Yorks to sell, that does not look like it will happen while there's still so much cash without having to win on the field.

Didn't we have a new OC every year until Jim put his staff together? Can't build a good offense when it changes every year. lol

Need an offensive minded HC with a consistent yet ever adapting vision for the offense. To go along with that he must understand the importance of Defense and have a strong DC with a stable of good assistants that can fill those shoes when the DC is hired off.
If you look at the old 49er squads of the 80's and 90's the defense was always similar just with that particular DC's style.
Seifert was a defensive coach, and he understood the offensive system that was in place and let the OC handle it.
Recently it seems we get a coach with a mind for one side of the ball and then let's his coordinator do what they want and it's and ever changing maelstrom to which the players can never fully adapt.
Sorry for pointing out the obvious. Just kinda frustrated.
