Should Tomsula Be Fired??

Tomsula's removal should be done in such a way that every good head coach in the league won't say "oh hell no" when asked if he wants the job. That is the only consideration at this point. You won't be able to hire good people if everyone in the league thinks (and rightly so) that you will undercut them, leak to the press, send insulting tweets etc even if they are winning. The only real fix is for York to bow out.

He is a tool...Baalke is who ultimately calls the shots...Firing him won't do it. Baalke needs to go or be put in his place by a real team President. The problem is that Baalke and Jed are two extreme co-dependents.

If right now, what difference is it going to make? Is there really someone who is going to come in here or be promoted from the existing staff who will turn this ship around?
At the end of the season, probably. Unless he manages to make a respectable showing during the rest of the season and buys himself more time, I don't want to waste another year.
right now ....if he is fired NOW , at least the interim head coach could make some changes to at least field a competitive team worth watching the rest of this season, who wants to watch a sputtering team with the same lineup and same weak ass offensive attack for 8 more games
Don't think there is anyone out there now that can make this team competitive. There is also a major talent issue and issues with the other coaches being incapable of doing their jobs...This is deep. Not a quick fix.

He knows the rest of the division rivals well and could have enticed a few free agents who weren't scared off by a positional coach getting the reigns. I wonder if it was because he would have wanted to change the defense to a 4-3?
They wanted a coach they could mould to Baalke's ideas and more importantly one willing to be controlled by him.

This.
But the fault is with GM and ownership. Baalke should be fired too.
I used to believe in Baalke based on his talent acquisition. I don't anymore. There are better scouts out there who could take over. Wondering about Tom Gamble. They need someone who can be a really solid GM or even President. A Carmen Policy type who would push Jed and Praag completely out of the picture on the football side. Then have him start to rebuild the organization starting with the right people for players personnel and the right Head Coach. Have to find a top guy who can work with strong, independent types like Bilichick, Harbaugh, Payton, Fox, Coughlin, etc. When all this is done, we will be ready to rebuild for a Super Bowl run. This is what Policy did with Walsh and DeBartalo. Eddie would fire Bill and Policy would come in and cool the emotional reactions and bring the two back to looking at the larger picture and finding ways to compromise.
If there would have been a Carmen Policy type, someone strong enough to hold the dynamic tension between Baalke and Harbaugh and keep them working together and going beyond their egos for the good of the organization we would be ready for a rebuild and another run. Sadly that just didn't happen.

I don't believe that's true. The real truth IMO is that they want a 'Yes Sir" coach and one who is "AFFORDABLE" in regards to what they're willing to pay.
I believe that the people who they interviewed previously was not hired because: A) They wanted to be in control of some things and Baalke and his ego would NOT allow it! and B) They wanted too much in salary.
Baalke has got Jed by the balls, and it's time for Jed to realize that he's been suckered in. In a way this is understandable seeing that Jed know little or nothing about football, and so he left it to someone who he thought was knowledgeable and was doing things for the good of the organization. NO, NO, NO, Baalke is in it for himself. Job security if you will.

Yup
need to hire a team president of football operations and let him hire the new people but it wont happen. Tomsula and baalke will be back for at least one more year.
This...I have advocated this for the last year. We need a Carmen Policy type. Does anyone know if that guy is out there. I know Paoli bombed in Kansas City. Anyone else anyone can think of?

Unfortunately I think you are right. The only other possibility would be for Jed to come out publicly and admit his mistakes and ask the fan base for forgiveness and a second chance. Then if he hires a real team President, a Carmen Policy type, gives him absolute power over the football side in his contract and then stays up in the suite during games and out of team headquarters most of the time to the degree of not even having an office there....then things might change. Otherwise he will have to be shamed or economically driven to sell...

Yet another in a long line of ridiculous webzone forum topics. Tomsula isn't going anywhere this year. How the rest of the season plays out will determine what happens next year, though personally I can't see them making a change even then, unless York decides to get rid of Baalke then Tomsula's fate is certainly sealed. York and Baalke have known this guy for eight years they knew what they were getting when they hired him and they are not likely to jettison after a handful of games. They said when they hired him that they wanted a teacher, we'll see if he can teach and coach up the team over the last half of the season. I guess the NeeJ stand for knee jerk, which is exactly the kind of response you have posited.

I too do not agree that he should be fired because he was put in a bad situation. He lacked NFL coaching experience and everyone knew that.
DEMOTED ,.... YES ... Fired ... NO.

It is true. A credible coach would want control over the roster and a strong say in the draft. He wouldn't want the GM having those powers. He would also want to be paid well.
You are right about waking up to letting go of Baalke as his security blanket. Baalke doesn't cut it as a personnel guy and certainly not as a GM...He must ultimately go...
