Do people not realize this? All this talk of how bad Tomsula is, and no talk of the talent he has to work with. When we were successful, look at the talent we had. 9 probowlers and 2 all pros. How many of those probowlers are left? How many all pros that haven't suffered catastrophic knee injuries or retired? My opinion is that unfortunately we are a team in rebuilding. We have guys like Pears, Devey, and Martin as our starting olinemen. It may not be pretty but our staff is working with what we got. Our Dline is nothing of the past. No Cowboy, no Aldon. Our MLBs are Wilhoute and a guy that can barely move. Secondary is some scrubs with potential. Now let's get into our coaching staff. A rookie head coach with not a lot of in game experience. A new OC with the same. We have a defense that has played well at time, but then look lost. Could this be because of a new DC, and new players at top positions? I just think the overreactions and expectations are unfair. I don't think people look at the whole picture and understand where we are at. We are a young team with a lot of holes. We are a young team with a lot of pieces but nothing compared to playoff teams. To expect this team not to suck at times is only kidding yourselves. We have shown good, we have shown bad, but in all reality we are only looking at a skeleton. Lower your expectations and enjoy the season. Understand the sutuation we are in and instead of getting so frustrated show a little patience. This team may suck at times, but there are ample reasons.

These guys were not scrubs. They were solid signings by Baalke.

Don't get me wrong... Harbaugh can get the best of any player. But these guys you mentioned are better than what we have.

These guys were not scrubs. They were solid signings by Baalke.

U have to admit harbaugh is a damn good coach. He saved alex smiths career. We were in the s**t hole before he got here and turned it around immediately. Everywhere he has gone he turned it around - michigan, san diego, Stanford, 49ers

That's a luxury Tomsula doesn't have. Tomsula doesn't have a Patrick Willis to work with, a VD who was compassionate, one of the best Dlineman ever. It's two completely different scenarios.

And to those who are saying "duh", read the game day thread and see how it seems most people think we should be playing like one(SB champs). My thread title is a jab at people's expectations. Kind of my own passive aggressive way of saying "duh".

Sure, but i just dont think tomsula is at the caliber harbaugh is. Harbaugh was a QB so he knows the Xs and Os, not just offensive but as a QB u need to understand defensive schemes. Harbaugh has had experience as a head coach for various teams. He also has that bad ass attitude his players feed off off.

Tomsula doesnt seem like an Xs and Os type of guy. He seems more of a rah rah guy to me.

how do you explain UM? he has 5 wins in 7 games, took 12 games to get that amount of wins last year

talent was already there too?

It could of been 6 wins had the punter not botched and fumble a punt last seconds of the game

Possibly, but I don't know... As I've said right now we are way too early in the rebuilding process to say. This team was 8-8 last year and already on the decline... This team right now has far less talent than that 8-8 team. My point in this entire thread is that this is not an overnight fix no matter the coach.

To be fair, many of the teams Harbaugh has inherited have been pretty talented. He does an incredible job of coaching that talent up and making that team into a contender.

I do think his "schtick" wears thin after a while, but he does a fantastic job. He's probably not cut out to be a long term NFL coach, but I would bet he could take a lot of teams to the playoffs. Give it a few more years and he'll be back in the NFL. He's doing too good a job at Michigan.

I still think the Niners were right to move on from him, but damn he is a good coach.

Look up Michigan recruiting class and get back to me. They have some pretty damn good recruits. Harbaughs a perfect fit to put it all together just like he did with us. I'm not sure why people are forcing a former coach on this discussion.
