Nobody wanted the job. Ericsson got a bad wrap, if management gave him a kicker we make the playoffs his first year. The second year ownership gave up.

A competent GM and Coaching staff. Baalke current draft picks on the team have been overreacted. Lots of high picks, but no talent on the field.

They need a lot. Have to start with the FO and coaching staff first.

York isn't going anywhere.
Baalke isn't going anywhere.
Tomsula stays another year.
DC & OC will stay.
Some position coaches will leave.
About 20 players on the current 53 will be gone.
What we see today is what we're getting next season in large measure, because the "plan" was, it was supposed to be a less angsty product on AND off the field.
No panic button from the top- he's chill with it.

I like jimmy T, hes a defensive guy, but the defense at times would look good, but have also let up a lot of points. After this season I wouldnt mind if the niners went after Nick Saban.

Agreed. We won't even have the pieces in place til 2017. That is when the fun begins in actually evaluating the players.

This will be a 5-year rebuilding job

Coach, quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, tackle, guard, center, pass rusher, corners. Basically everything but a running back.

I tend to agree...Mariucci deserves credit for helping get Niners back on track after '99-2000 seasons, but to me they weren't going to be anything more than a one-and-done playoff team with him, the miracle vs Giants notwithstanding. But yeah in hindsight it might have been nice if the Yorks had a plan in place when they fired him, not settling on Erickson. And imo that post-2002 offseason doesn't hold a candle to all the turmoil and goings-on that happened this year.

Any sort of positive news that adds energy and excitement to the organization. Talent influx next offseason to start regaining momentum from the offseason from hell would help.

The current state of the 49ers is simply abysmal. That you York and Baalke.

This! But really, for a year 1 rebuilding team, if this is all you need, you're golden:

1) Pass rusher
2) OT/OG/C - take your pick
3) Sports Psychologist for CK (just in case)
4) Depth or upgrade at ILB and RB and TE and QB

We have 45 picks next year and a Gazillion dollars in cap space for FA.

We good...take our lumps now and continue to develop all these players now so we have our work cut out for us next off season.

We're gonna need an exorcist.

What about Mike Shanahan as the new HC?
