I would hope he makes it. If he does, I hope they give him a real running back number.

Pete Carroll would high jack Christian Grey's chopper, fly it to Santa Clara, land it on the 50 shades or dirt yard line of Levi's to pick Outback Jesus up personally.

Pete Carroll doesn't need Hayne, he already has Tyler Lockett who is a beast and better than Hayne.

He'd wanna be better than some guy who doesn't know football and would be lucky to make the practice squad.

This has to be taken into account. It is a business as well, and the Hayne business is very good right now. What is not to like? He is a good looking, well spoken, nicely mannered, polished professional. He has made the San Francisco 49ers a household name for an entire country that are on a whole, just getting introduced to the sport. And he has incredible skill. As good as he has been, I think it is a tip of the iceberg situation. Once he really starts to feel comfortable in this game he could be dominant. This is the very definition of a win/win situation for the 49ers.

Pete Carroll sooo doesn't need rugby stuff that he completely re-modelled his tackling training to copy rugby tackling and then posted a training video about it on NFL.com.

If Hayne does not make the team, I will have lost all faith in the 49ers. Given all the crap that's been going on, a "feel good" story is worth making up for all the bad PR that's been going on lately. Plus nobody trucks DB's like Hayne

Can tyler withstand tackles by 200-300lbs men without pads at elite level and get up straight away to defend the line repeat that over and over every few seconds and do that for 80 minutes? because Jarryd can.

Agreed.. Hunter is probably an injured again this year. He was injured for last year. We should let Hunter go for gone. Hayne must earn it spot. He was a great at Punt Return.. Go Hayne..

He is a great story, and the fact that the 49ers are even considering him for their 53 is a great accomplishment. But is the hype train out of control? If he were just a rookie from a mid-major school, would he make the team?
I think that despite his strong performance in the preseason, he does not make the cut. He's shown promise, but he doesn't offer the value of other fringe players. Hayne doesn't have the football IQ yet to maximize his talents.
Sorry Aussies, but the Hayne Plane's takeoff may be delayed.
He easily makes the team. Ellington and White will be the #3 and #4 WRs and Bush is needed from scrimmage, so Hayne wins the punt returner job by default. He has the best hands on the team, is a tremendous hitter on coverage teams, and his versatility secures his spot on the team -- GUARANTEED.

I believe this is an NRL shoulder charge, right? I know this was not a punt return, but I would bet good money that there is not another punt returner in the league that could truck a defender like this.
