Do you care about the 49ers players "Character"?

I don't mind if they are jerks or asshats in their personal lives.

But if you act violently towards other people outside the game I don't want you. Of course, I want to be sure this act actually occurred as accused first (and the team can have it's own barometer that has a lower tolerance than the law if they deem that fair). And like RayMac, even if you get proven to not be in the wrong in situation #1 and a situation #2 crops up it's not worth the distraction.

Additionally, if you break laws that put others in harms way (DUI) due to personal demons I may be willing to give you one shot at redemption, but if you blow that chance I'm also done with you.
no.

we don't know anyone's character because we don't really know them. all we want is for them to not get arrested and that's it.

don't get arrested and you can play on sunday
I care about character to a certain extent, but bascially feel like the NFL should be about the business of football operations, not personal life. Let teams police their own. As long as the guy isn't a hardcore criminal or truly abusing/hurting people, I dont care. Some of the stuff lately has gotten tickey tackey and the rules never seem to apply evenly or consistently from player to player or team to team.

Personally. I think times have changed and with access to information and social media anyone in the spotlight is always under a microscope. I'm willing to bet that back in the days (so to speak) all this nonsense off the field stuff was happening. We just didn't hear much about it because it was easier to sweep it under the rug. Plus. In the NFL there are a lot of character issues. It's just how much you are willing to put up with.

Also, if we are winning. No one cares. If we are losing. Everyone wants to nit pick everything the teams does.

I guaranteed that once this team starts winning. The same people blasting the front office and thus team in general will be right back at saying "I love the niners!"

Winnnnnnning cures EVERYTHING in professional sports.
Culiver hit a cyclist with his car, ran from the scene, and then threatened a witness.
We know about Ray McDonald.
Brooks smashed a bottle over a teammates head, threw a fit during a game, and possibly sexual assaulted a woman.
Aldon passed out while driving drunk, which could have killed an innocent person.

Regardless of how good they are, I don't want to root for these people. Imagine if YOU were the person Culliver hit, or it was your sister that Brooks sexually assaulted......These guys are LOSERS.

Dodgy people reflect badly on the team, the supporters and the game. If all that matters is winning, supporters would be changing their loyalties throughout any given season.
Rather win a SB with thugs than lose with choir boys
Yes. Easier to root for a good guy. Willis, Staley, Bowman and more. Alex Smith is one of the only non niners I root for for that that reason.
Yes I care, but very very little.

Ill take a team full of future convicts that win over a bunch of boy scouts that lose 10 times out of 10.

Its more embarrassing to have a two-win season than it is to have one player a month pop up on an ESPN blotter.

This
That's about how I'd see it. You don't draft players cause they are angels..and in football..teams LIKE some "edge"..It's when it gets EXTREME or brain dead..when a guy refuses to learn. Geez Aldon... hire a driver..take a cab.. you WERE making huge $.

You Can't expect this team to sniff the playoffs and Thugs and fools were part of that. Niners will be in rebuild awhile after being SO close.
I would rather take elite players that fall in the draft due to character concerns, then not. As long as we have great veterans to mentor, that is the way to go.

We should have taken Shane Ray. That is obvious now. Hindsight is 20/20
They do now
I don't know any of these guys. I'm not in a position to judge them really. I just want to see wins. I'd rather guys who stayed on the field.
