Yup pretty much blames the coach that is no longer there while ignoring the gm that drafted aldon and stuck by him through several arrests. Yeah its smart move by Davis.

That's funny, cuz the last arrest that Aldon had, and the only one in which Harbaugh wasn't the coach, he was released.

Or it being his 5th arrest might have something to do with it. Lol

He's not in control of who practices and who plays. Clearly Harbaugh didn't care how badly a guy messed up, he would play him. Yet TK wants us to believe Harbaugh wanted to take a harder line?

TBH I don't really buy that either side wanted to take a harder line as long as they were winning. With subsequent actions it seems the ownership and front office want to take one going forward. I have zero doubt that if another Frank Clark situation happens at Michigan Harbaugh will play the kid regardless. Harbaugh cares as much about off field discipline as Urban Meyer does.

From what we know now, York probably was opposed to letting Smith play but was badgered into it by Hammerin'Jim Harbaugh. That's Harbaugh's style.

"Due process" for Ray McDonald surely was Harbaugh's baby. And when the 49ers finally cut McDonald, that might have been York growing up, because it's likely Harbaugh wanted McDonald to play in that last game (due process!), to help send the coach out the door with a look-at-me win and a break-even season.

I do know that they insisted he undergo treatment in season with pay to the tune of 5 games missed. I remember Harbaugh saying that Aldon played because the game plan was already in when Aldon had his incident and that he had to play as a result. You really think Jim had no influence or say in Aldon being active that week? I can only imagine the kind of sideline tantrum Jim was throwing inside the 49er offices

They should let due process play out. Make sure you know all the facts. Once you know the facts go to the guy and say enough is enough, any more bad judgement incidences and you are gone. Seems like that will be the policy going forward.

I wasn't in the closed door meetings so I don't know what was actually said. I just use logic to try and determine what is more likely. What Davis is suggesting is far more likely then what TK is.

And as the article implies, if you think rationally and follow the facts, the decision was really Harbaugh's, and he did it kicking and screaming. That's what makes him tough to deal with, and impossible to maintain a working relationship. York took the bullet for his coach, like a good owner does, but enough was enough.

Yup, the owner is at the top of the totem pole. Nobody cares about the 49ers brand and long-term outlook more than him. The coach is most concerned with the short-term (winning games). It's common sense, really.
