Maybe that's a GOOD thing?

Overall, I agree. Foerster/Wolford have their work cut out for them and Geep/Logan are going to have to scheme very well to combat any weaknesses we have (hence the additional focus on tempo and check-downs and asking the OL to slim now and get more athletic - screen passes).

Ill miss Iuptai's runblocking but Im stoked to not see him completely let a lineman fly by him again in pass pro. If you want to see lazy, watch Iuptai passblock.
Some intangibles that make me hopeful:

  • The Front Office/Ownership undermined the coaching staff last year. This was huge and impacted every player on the team
  • New coaching staffs in the NFL traditional get a bump from team play/players
  • Receivers that can take off the top of a defense (not having so many DBs cheat up not worried of that threat) Smith,Simpson,White
  • Will most likely throw screens and more short passing game (Bush/Hunter) to counter some aggressive pass rushing.
  • Less predictable offense (Roman so often ran up the middle between the tackles on first down and left us 2nd 8/9/10/11 obvious passing down). Proof is hiring a coach to point out your predictability. Many say the NFL DC's have figured out Kap. I think they figured out Roman.
  • I like to think it will be hard to be as bad in pass protection no matter who we start on the OL or see as many dropped passes as 2014 (even Bouldin dropped a couple).
  • We have the best edge rushers in years (rejuvenated Smith, rejuvenated Brooks, Lynch and Harold) which will help any shortcomings of the DBs

But so many things have to come together. While most of the National Press have concluded all our changes are negative. For them all to come together is more possible than probable.
