Phillip Dorset getting big reviews, Amati cooper, and devanter Parker also playing at a high level. This is great, they are meeting expectations and I'm sure their fans are excited.

deandrew white is making the same kind of splash. He's out performing other rookies and making some good plays. If he was a 4th or 5th round pick, we'd be calling for him to beat out all for the #3 job.

If a guy shows up, he shows up. We've had other strong rookie performers before but we haven't had a wide receiver compete like this.

Just because he's undrafted doesn't mean his showing up in camp is a fluke. He could be the real deal...lets just wait it out instead of saying he's practice squad. Obviously he is climbing the ladder with his ability and consistency.

Exactly right. When was the last time any of our drafted wideouts were consistently earning praise for their performance in minicamp? People are noting that Patton is getting good reviews but he has been in the system for a few years. For a UDFA to come in and consistently compete and outperform other rookies and more seasoned guys, it is a positive. Maybe he will never amount to anything but it is a nice sign that he has come into camp prepared, is grasping the system quickly and is making plays.

It's just offseason and he's making some plays in practice. Every team has players doing that.

And you mean Patton been in this brand new offense for years, from our new offensive coordinator?
Brand new offense? I very much doubt this offense will be vastly different. A guy who has been in the NFL for a few seasons like Patton is expected to show something in minicamp. For a UDFA to stand out is a little more promising to hear. I agree that everyone has players making plays but he is one of ours so I don't understand why everyone seems so keen to write him off.

Yes, he will need to prove himself once the pads come on but at least he's showing something and trying to make the best of this opportunity.
Either Patton or Ellington will be cut. The first 4 WRs are BOLDIN - T.SMITH - SIMPSON - WHITE.

#5 and #6 are up for grabs between PATTON, ELLINGTON, ANDERSON, JACOBS, ETC.

He's been here for 2 years.... His 1st year he did play when he wasn't injured and made a few big plays for our team. Last year he couldn't move up the depth chart due to the veteran wr's being in front of him and lack of PT from our coaching staff. He still has potential to be a solid #3 WR on a NFL roster. His ceiling is a #2 but I think he will have a good NFL career as a #3. He is also a willing run blocker, I love his energy when he plays

Very good

Obviously you've never seen him play. Possession receiver? He runs a 4.3 40. With White, T.Smith, and Simpson, all of a sudden the Niner WR corps is FAST.

All based on a few offseason practices. Your clairvoyance astonishes me.

No he doesnt. Ran about a 4.4 at the Combine and at his Pro Day. Not slow by any means but people building this guy up to be some sort of legend might be setting themselves up for a big letdown.

The way I see it, he'd do well to make it as the #6 WR right now. We'll see if practice production translates into production during the preseson when the pads come on. All the other guys at minimum have proven themselves in the preseason before, I'll be interested to see how he does before anointing him as anything more than a training camp body.

He had injury issues but he was a track star in high school.

Agreed, although he did run a 4.34-4.37 at his pro day. Of course those are usually on fast tracks and hand timed right? Not sure where they run at Bama.

4.40 - 4.46

Sorry was going based on this article, having trouble posting from my mobile. Could be he was inflating his numbers a bit.

I pretty much consider every WR a rookie now that we have a real WR coach and potentially, a coaching staff that might actually use them properly. May the best ones win!
Hand timing is usually calculated by three or more timers and taking an average...very inexact. Let's just say the guy is very fast. But TC may change everything...when hitting begins. I expect Boldin, Smith, Smith, Patton and Ellington to make the team. If anyone else makes the team it will be a sixth receiver and likely not active very often. But they have a very nice group of rookies with differing talents to develop. Some of them will make the PS and others will likely be picked up by WR hungry teams. KC may be watching closely! If Smelter is healthy he will be the sixth receiver.

i am as optimistic as the next person but to make this assumption is a bit premature , if this were the case, back in the day our starting lineup would be nate davis, korey sheets, glenn winston, marlon moore and otis arney
