Montana blew the doors off Marino and Elway. He only needed to play 3 quarters against Denver. Brady never won a Super Bowl by more than 6 pts.

That's salary cap football. There's no great teams so everything will be close. Joe played in a time when our top 5 d's could blanket an opponent.

Joe played against better top team rather than mediocre opponents.
The Brady apologists are out in force after the choke job.

A few zoners here truly believe that Brady is better than Montana on the fact that he went to more super bowls (6) vs (4). They believe 4-2 is greater than 4-0 in the big dance. They also reflect on the fact that Montana was surrounded by great players because he flourished in the no salary cap era. But they tend to forget that on the flip side Montana had to deal with ridiculously talented teams like the Giants, Redskins, and Bears. Oh but when you look at the # of all pros and pro bowlers on each SB team, Montana averaged 7 per his SB winning teams, Brady 6. The 84 San Fran team had the most with 10 and Joe took complete advantage. Brady had almost 9 per team in 2007 and 2011 but choked in the big dance.

Also as many zoners have pointed out Montana played in a brutal era where QB's were destroyed and receivers mugged like crazy. He and his receivers didn't have all the protection that whiny ass Brady enjoys today.

Umm...Montana won 2 SBs before they drafted Jerry Rice. Yep.

Wildcard game wins are just as good as Super Bowl wins? Can't agree with that.

Don't get your point. You either won it all or at some point you lost. To pretend losing earlier is better is silly. Brady has done it 5 times, Joe 4. Only argument Joe has on Brady for winningest qb is Brady's longer career.

I've never been a fan of the train of logic I just mentioned above, but 99% of Brady fans (including the ones in this thread) have used it as his biggest attribute.

That's because he has 4 game winning SB drives. Now 3 times where he fell short too.

Everyone loses though at some point except for MJ.

Not Joe in the SB.
GOAT

This generation prefers quantity over quality. LeBron and Brady play for the title on a regular basis, but are susceptible to losing it.

Montana and Jordan used to NEVER lose in those opportunities. They played their very best in the biggest moments. Brady/LeBron are 8-8 playing for the title. Montana/Jordan were 10-0.
It's like saying Elyi > Peyton because Eli is 2-0 in the SB but Peyton is 2-2.

No one in their right mind would ever make that argument.

But not as well-publicized.

There is a difference between those two.........one of them is a choke artist.

Pats defense let Brady down. He dropped 500 yards on that Eagles defense who was one of the best Ds all year.

Eagles defense played a worse game than the Patriots defense.

At least until your idol fumbled away the game-winning drive.

MJ never lost period. To anyone ever. Once he broke the threshold he won 6 titles in 8 years only falling short because he retired. That is much different than what Joe or Brady did.

If you want a case study of how insecure 49ers fans are, look no further than a 503-yard, 3 TD, 0 INT performance being spun as a "choke job" by Brady.

When Montana had a performance like this (Denver), his team won 55-10. Do you think Brady would've won if his defense allowed 10 points yesterday? (Hint: yes.)

Brady is the last person to blame for the game yesterday. Good grief.

c'mon dudes.

Homers gonna homer.

Brady was fantastic again yesterday. A true GOAT.

Dude has played in more Super Bowls than some great QBs have played in playoff games. His QB GOAT-ness is insane.

Exactly!

Montana is to Jordan as Brady is to Lebron.
