We have an issue coming to us, we have to have a little over $8.3M in cap room to pay back 12 players' roster bonuses, and the potential for Aldon Smith's roster bonuses, and Incentives. And right now we have about $5.9M in cap room, and still would have to sign our draft class.

So I've pinpointed 9 players who could restructure their deals, with each deal adding on enough years, as 5 years is max to prorate bonus

Those 9 are(Savings inside), Kap($7.724M), Bowman($3.164M), Staley($2.904M), VDavis($2.784M), Boldin($3.624M), ADavis($884K), Bethea($1.704M), Brock($884K), & Lee($864K)

How much gtd money would be added, Kap($9.655M), Bowman($3.955M0, Staley($3.63M), VDavis($3.48M), Boldin($4.53M), ADavis($1.105M), Bethea($2.13M), Brock($1.105M), & Lee($1.08M)

Amount added yearly, Kap($1.931M), Bowman($791K), Staley($726K), VDavis($696K), Boldin($906K), ADavis($221K), Bethea($426K), Brock($221K), & Lee($216K)

Now how long the new deals would run through, Kap(2020), Bowman(2019), Staley(2019), VDavis(2019), Boldin(2019), ADavis(2019), Bethea(2019), Brock(2019), & Lee(2019)

Now I don't see Dawson, JSmith, or Brooks as liable options, as neither of those 3 should be expected to be here past 2015.

If JSmith retires, that clears $4.25M, if we cut Brooks and Dawson, that clears $4,706,250 for Brooks, and $2.634M for Dawson.

Although Brooks does have a $100K workout bonus, which he would likely earn if they keep him right before the start of the 2015 season.

So as you can tell, and as I have said during the offseason, there was no way we could afford to add a player like Adrian Peterson.

What happens if we extend Aldon Smith this season? I have always thought this to be a possibility. Also I could see Ahmad Brooks being moved during the draft. I don't see us moving VD.

who is our kicker? you get rid of brooks and boone today and then you have injurys there, you are screwed. some people act like we have a front office incapable of handling this... this is not their first time to this rodeo. i think it is legit you ask dawson to take a pay cut

Perhaps the issue is just for this season. There are a few noteworthy contracts that may be off the books after 2015: Justin, VD, SWright, Bush. In addition to the possible retirements of Bethea and Boldin. So just "get by" for 2015, and they'll have some breathing room to accommodate Kap's and Aldon's raises.

Nah, cut him and you can be the kicker since you like to kick everybody's nuttz in here. Just tell Baalke you'll do it for free to save the team some cap space...lol.

$4.9M saved if he is traded/released.

Out of curiosity, what if we traded Alex Boone?

If the #´s are correct -> $3,740,000 Cap Savings

$3.4M, we would have a $340K dead money hit from his original signing bonus.

my question is - what happens if those incentives kick in during the season and we don't have the room? is it just subtracted from the next year or are there other penalties included?

It would have been a better option before he restructured his 2015 year, now he has only a $1M base salary. They would have to take his game day roster bonuses and turn them into signing bonuses. I'm not sure if Baalke, or Aldon want to have a deal done right now, they seem as if they want to wait to see how Aldon plays/behaves.

What happens is we would then get a negative credit, meaning instead of having say $154M(Projected cap for 2016), we would be less than that, by however much we don't have. But that's for incentives. The roster bonuses, we have to have the cap room, we can't let it go and then take it off of 2016's cap, not sure that's allowed under the CBA.

Ok, gotcha, thx

Well right now we have $38M in cap room for 2016 with a $154M cap, and Brooks won't be back, which can save a lot of cap room.
I have had a theory for a few weeks now that I think Scotty at #5 with the Skins would be interested in trading with us. Granted we need to have a player we want be there. Leonard Williams? Amari Cooper?

The one thing we can offer other then draft picks is players. Not just any players, but players that Scotty drafted.

He has to be intrigued with the opportunity to fill his roster with players he personally knows.

Redskins have holes at OG/OT/OLB and TE

Boone/Brooks/Vernon would all start on the Skins. Not saying we trade all of them for #5, but I do believe they are all available via trade.

Only problem with that is if we dealt Boone, we would have a huge hole, we have no clue what Erik Pears will bring, from all reports he is best suited as a Tackle. Brandon Thomas, who knows if he is ready 100%, and not a fan of Looney.

Have no issue dealing Brooks or Vernon. I prefer Carrier at TE right now to Davis but that's me, and if we get a solid OLB in the draft, then I am all for dealing Brooks, though we don't save enough to warrant a trade, only $1M now, where it's $4M in June.

which isn't worth losing Vernon for.

I don't care about the fair weather fans who turn on someone after one season...when most of the team struggled, including the coaches.

dude is still a mismatch at his position...and can block. He has always been our best offensive weapon, and still is.
