Martin STILL has to prove himself.

You guys are giving him w/a status he has NOT earned.

Time will tell.

My $$ is on Kilgore.

To me it doesn't matter whether Kigore or M Martin are starting because the other will provide depth and/or start at OG. M Martin is young and may have some ups and downs, just as Davis has had. One reason I believe they may trade or allow Boone to leave this year or next is that he is 27 years old and they are building a young zone friendly line (hopefully). Only Staley and Pears are older and Kilgore is the same age. So looking down the road a few years the line looks like:

?/Thomas/M Martin/ Looney/Davis...all guys 25 or younger. LT is the only position without a young guy in the wings...unless Chris Martin is the guy.

I am kind of concerned if Martin's knee injuries dating back to his time at USC is going to be a recurring issue. He's already dislocated his kneecap in both knees and had some MCL tears.

In my opinion, Martin would be a better fit in our new zone blocking scheme replacing Boone.

Interesting points.

Mine might be: Boone - Thomas - Martin - Davis - Staley

Yeah lets just f**kin jumble it all up.
Chilo Rachal 2.0 is what Martin looked like and played like. He better get stronger or it will be another wasted balke pick

"Another"? The draft being a complete gamble, maybe you could name some of those GMs who, unlike Baalke, never "waste" picks please? I'll wait.

In the meantime, just to confirm. We are talking about Marcus Martin, the rookie, right? The rookie who missed part of his first NFL preseason due to injury? Also missed the early part of the season due to that same injury? The rookie thrown in to play at one of the most difficult positions in the game? That guy? Thrown in at a time when the team's play calling was dubious to say the least? How did you expect him to play like, Jesse Sapolu? To compare him after half a season played under the circumstances I have mentioned, with a notorious bust like Rachal is, shall I say, not very fair?

And the guy who was the youngest player on the team...while others his age are still sophs or jrs...shouldn't he be better? LOL!

Doesn't look promising. Both have injury issues. Martin seemed average at best and Thomas hasn't even taken a snap, but some thinks he is the future. I'm not on the wagon yet.

Everyone knew that Martin was extremely talented but very raw, he wasn't a first year starter coming out of college, he was a guy who had All-Pro potential but a guy that you let sit and learn for a couple of seasons. 49ers didn't ultimately have that luxury with the Kilgore injury but anyone who really knew about Martin while he was in college knew he was a high upside guy but not someone you'd want to depend on immediately.

Here is a article/video of first off-season workout and B Thomas is doing box jumps, which is a good sign he will be ready to role.
