When Alex Smith had awful coaching and a horrible O-line, he was called one of the biggest busts in NFL draft history. He was getting sacked . . . . throwing picks . . . . . and generally getting booed out of Candlestick. . . . . and then one day, something magical happened. Did he get a special pair of football shoes??? Did he deflate the balls???? No, he got a coach that knew what the hell he was doing and all of a sudden, he was a serviceable playoff caliber QB.

Kaepernick didn't get hit in the head with a rock this summer and forget everything he ever knew about football, the team has crumbled around him. Our defense can't stop anyone and it is forcing him to be Drew Brees. . . . . which admittedly he is not. The O-line is awful which doesn't give him an ability to get comfortable in the pocket. They may keep him clean for one play, but then get their doors blown off on the next.

Kaep may not be the best QB in the world, but he has been a big part of us getting pretty deep in the playoffs 3 years in a row. Back him up with a solid coaching staff and an O-line that can pass protect and I believe you would see a completely different guy. There are very few . . . and I would go so far as to say NO QBs that would be extremely successful on this team right now.

First of all, you are wrong...Smith plays for Kansas City not the niners.

Seriously, I think Kaepernick, the OL and the defense is suffering what's known in scientific circles as "Learning Curve Syndrome." I'll just enjoy my popcorn on Sundays and hope the light clicks on...

I agree. And I don't think Alex Smith would of gotten us through those two playoff games with Green Bay

Here we go, Kaepernick never had a coach. This is pure hogwash.
it is also hogwash to throw the qb under the bus cuz he had a horrid game and a not so good game. and yes, there was little coaching and teaching that went on last year. people think we got rid of 2012 players and coaches. the players and coaches that are no longer here were not the same, did not coach as well or play as well as they did in 2012.. oh and cc said nothing wrong in his post in his opinion.
did anyone play or coaching with urgency last year? no
was pass protection s**tty last year and going back to 2011 no matter the qb ? yes
did vernon suck last year? yes
you tell me why the team played old ugly miss lloyd and had stevie set on the bench playing checkers
and crabtree was the least clutch guy in the nfl

Which 3 years was he responsible for getting us deep in the playoffs?

The o-line didn't force Kaepernick to throw 4 ints against the cards. In 2014 Kaepernick had plenty of time to pass. Third most time in the NFL. He took 45 sacks past the 2.8 second mark.

OK, we didn't run many screens. Why? Ask Matt Maiocco:

Matt Maiocco-

"And when the 49ers have called some variation of a screen pass, the plays have gone nowhere."

"The appropriate time has been few and far between. The 49ers do not run the plays because, simply, they are not very good at them. Although four of the five screen passes have been completed, they've gone for just 22 yards, according to PFF. Several other attempts at swing passes have failed, such as an incompletion on a pass intended for LaMichael James against Washington three weeks ago."

"Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who ranks 33rd in the NFL – yes, there are only 32 teams -- with a 57.2 completion percentage, appears to be more comfortable unleashing his powerful arm down the field. He is not best-suited for the touch passes that are asked of a quarterback throwing a screen."

Why have we been struggling to accumulate yards after the catch? Well, it's because Kaepernick takes so long to get rid of the ball. Partly because his lack of anticipation, partly because his elongated throwing motion and his body language also gives away the intended ball location. We rarely see a quick release, balls thrown decisively, quickly with anticipation and touch. He waits for the guy to get open and guns it in hoping the velocity will make up for the jump given to the defender.

http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/team-yards-after-catch-statistics/2015/

Right now we rank 31st in yards after the catch.

Bush is also suppose to help with this, screens etc but the previously mentioned issues still exist. Our short passes are frequently stuffed after the catch because defenders see it coming. They have too much time to make a play on the ball. Kaepernick's YAC was ranked 21st in 2013 and 22nd in 2014.

Kaepernick has a body of work to critique, not just the Cards game. In short, PFF rankings are as followed:

+22.9, +6.2, -10.1.

Harbaugh/Roman did a good job of managing Kap's limitations but at times pushed the envelope in an attempt to push a better passing game from Kaepernick. It usually failed and they had to reel in his passing- this began in 2013 after the Green Bay game. Well, after the Seattle/Colts losses. Jim was forced to put Kap in a game manager role for weeks, then let his legs loose in the playoffs. 2014 the same. Tried to get Kap passing more but it was ineffective. Chryst is stuck with the same issues.

We can't just run 3 TE sets and bootlegs, rollouts or RO plays every down. We need a more complex passing game to succeed long term. Chryst has simplified the offense even more, and it's not going to work. Kap the passer needs to manifest or this team will continue to lose. We're not going anywhere with a 28-30th ranked passing game. Especially not with this years defense.

The offense doesn't need to be simplified or more complicated. We saw the interceptions were Kap's fault and not the play-call. Kap needs to get better on his timing of the play and know to throw it at the top of his drop. Either that or start shifting to find another spot for more time.

His pocket awareness is crap...hell, he has a lot of work to do but hopefully it was a career bad game more than anything.

Kaepernick said after Monday film review of his Arizona miscues, he moved onto Packers. Says should have thrown elsewhere, changed plays

Really, Kap. You're not divulging info if you just talk like normal. Those answers deserve a "No s**t!" response.

Crazy, because some of his teammates have been sub virtuous. He has every reason to chuck his line under the bus but refrains from doing it.

But hey, the agenda mandates the hate spin. Live it up and pray he doesn't turn it around.

Good question. IMO some people just don't like Kaepernick...i'm not going to say specifically why but I'm sure there are different reasons and they want to be proven right about him "sucking" more so than seeing the team they're supposedly fans of have success.

What I don't get is how those same people can then turn around and call themselves 49er fans. It takes a rare "fan" to actively root against your teams starting QB, especially when the backup is a proven bust in the league.

Is that english?

He doesn't need to describe every little detail to the media. Ever see Bill Belichick handle the media?

Media ask obvious questions they should expect obvious answers. Stop nitpicking everything. You must be such a blast at parties if you were actually invited.
