Colin Kaepernick Thread

Some of you guys are just ridiculous.

It's one thing saying Kap isn't a great pocket passer and never will be. It's another to say the guy sucks. He sucked on Sunday. Overall he doesn't suck. He's inconsistent but even with that inconsistency he's done more good than bad.

He's not Joe Montana or Steve Young...get over it people.

It's easy to say let's replace him but who with? Right now this team has a lot of other holes.

We're getting pushed around in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Kap is being pressured on 43% of his dropbacks to lead the league. Vernon Davis is playing ballet rather than football. It's embarrassing. Kap is still down the list of our biggest issues.

You bring in a #1 overall pick at QB(I'm still not convinced we're THAT bad) and what happens? How many #1 overall picks go on to be a Joe Montana or Steve Young? Everyone wants a Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers but there is no guarantee there.

Unless Kap keeps playing like he did vs Arizona there's no reason to get rid of him at this point. His contract can be cut at any point and we know he's going to keep working to get better, I think that's one thing we can all agree on...the guy is a hard worker and wants to be better.

Fix the OL and add some more playmakers who aren't afraid to get hit and you'll see a difference.

He's still learning and won't get it down until he fails or has success on this play multiple types of coverage, i.e., experience.

I agree....it's a process and unfortunately there's no magical way to rush it.

Team game, team problems! When the WRs are new to the scheme, the OL is switching to a new scheme, the RBs are running new schemes and the QB is learning new schemes and also trying to correct his fundamental skills...it might look like a redne...sorry...might look a bit messy.

If it looks like this in December? Time to start bailing on staff. If they make improvements each week then no big deal.

This! He had the worst game of his career but played two solid games before but like you said kick him when he's down...that's what a good portion of zoners do here.

I'd just like to understand why it seems like it's so much fun for some posters around here to tear the team down. Some of the fans around here seem almost giddy when they get to say how horrible things are. Why is this fun?

Not at all...I rather like Kaepernick. But you did prove yourself to be a rather doltish poster. Try again, and next time have the courage to address your rath toward a specific poster...not the entire board.

You sir are clearly the brilliant one out here in a forum just looking for someone to argue with. My statement was a general address to all the people bashing our QB while he's down. If it doesn't apply to you then move along accordingly.

I know many of you on here may be too young to remember this, but a loooooooong time ago, we had a QB name Alex Smith. When Alex Smith had awful coaching and a horrible O-line, he was called one of the biggest busts in NFL draft history. He was getting sacked . . . . throwing picks . . . . . and generally getting booed out of Candlestick. . . . . and then one day, something magical happened. Did he get a special pair of football shoes??? Did he deflate the balls???? No, he got a coach that knew what the hell he was doing and all of a sudden, he was a serviceable playoff caliber QB.

Kaepernick didn't get hit in the head with a rock this summer and forget everything he ever knew about football, the team has crumbled around him. Our defense can't stop anyone and it is forcing him to be Drew Brees. . . . . which admittedly he is not. The O-line is awful which doesn't give him an ability to get comfortable in the pocket. They may keep him clean for one play, but then get their doors blown off on the next.

Kaep may not be the best QB in the world, but he has been a big part of us getting pretty deep in the playoffs 3 years in a row. Back him up with a solid coaching staff and an O-line that can pass protect and I believe you would see a completely different guy. There are very few . . . and I would go so far as to say NO QBs that would be extremely successful on this team right now.
