Seems to me that one of his primary goals this off season was to try and win back a locker room that many reports suggested that he had lost, or maybe never even had. While I have no problem with his choice I can't really see how this helps him with his teammates

i think the locker room is numb and immune to his antics by now.. he wants to be a loner,. well he will be a loner in san diego on military appreciation night when he gets the s**t booed out of him. i also now have zero confidence he will up his game on the field. some players rise to the occasion. this guy shys away from it and uses stuff like friday night to distract in my opinion

I feel he needs to be performing better to n the field to make his stand off of it more noteworthy.

It's already national news it's not going to be much more noteworthy if he had won the job already. You don't wait until it's convenient to make a statement you feel is that important. I respect Kaep more for doing when it could be the most costly for him. Could cost him the chance to start and prevent other teams from signing him because of the backlash he's received. I also agree with DeHubb, he's protesting in a way that harms NO ONE. Except maybe himself.

I know if I were a player on the 49ers I would be disgusted to have someone like that on my team. Giving the team a bad name for dumb acts like that that he caused on his very own, I'd want him outta here asap

Are you black? If you aren't would be minority on the team, so you'd have no idea how the majority of the players would feel about what Kaep did. For all you know it could have made his teammates respect him more.

I guess my point is no one cares what a scrub, has-been quarterback thinks, but an elite quarterback who is playing lights out gets more attenti N. He needs to focus on his game before anyone takes his social stance seriously.

It is awesome, a long time coming. I will enjoy it while it lasts.

I think on some level that may be what Kap and his circus crowd want. To distract from the fact he is no longer a viable starting QB.

To take focus off his poor play and make things about people "hating" kaepernick.

IMO the focus should be on what he does on the field, although his political stunt was on the field, or bench, I think what he does or doesnt do in the pocket is more important.

What matters is his inability to lead this offense to the endzone. I don't care if Kap is a third world Maoist, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist or Black Panther. What I care about is his inability to be a viable starting QB for the 49ers.

It's time to move on- not based on his political views but based on his play from the pocket.

I agree. He s**t the bed on Friday night and he is now the most expensive back up QB in the league. Time to move on.

For those who keep saying that he is doing a disservice to our vets who fight for our freedom because he sat during the National Anthem. What have you done to help prevent the 22 vets that kill themselves everyday? Do you think standing up for our National Anthem is doing a service to them? Do you think our government pumping them full of antidepressants, anxiety and pain medication is a service to them? If you aren't actively involved in helping our veterans to live a free and prosperous life than STFU. Just like Kaep, you're all talk and no Fn action. So what makes you any better than him? So how about we keep things about football or shut this thread down.
Nice melt down because your guy failed you.

LOL. Then it really is a sad state for your country when the guys statement had less weight depending on whether or not he's a pro bowler. So the only way you can speak out on social issues is if you are one of the Best at your given profession?

Kelly's go to guy for race relations and dealing with issues relative to troubled black players or an racially tinged things at all. When Kelly can't figure out what's wrong, or needs an expert he calls Harry Edwards. Man is a giant in his field

omg, 9er fans. I wish yall would know your organization sometimes... or atleast the history of it.

Edwards has been with us for like forever. All the way back to Bill Walsh.

even through the T.O. years.

^^^^Sorry I don't keep up with what Doctor is on the team. Let me know when one catches a touchdown or intercepts a pass and I'll start remembering.

Gee I must not be a real 49ers fan.

If you read my first paragraph, you would have realize that I admitted that he played poorly enough to lose the comp. I also stated in the Blaine Gabbert thread that I am now endorsing Gabbert as our starter this year...oops, I forgot. You only hang out in the Kaepernick thread.

When you use team/ company time to make a political statement everybody else has to answer for you. Notice nobody gave a sh.. when he was just twittering about it. Point being if you're going to be a distraction to the team you should probably carry your own weight. Nobody wants the punter with a mouth. Backup qb get out of here.

New Falcon Dashon Goldson on former 49ers' teammate Colin Kaepernick deciding to sit through the national anthem to protest treatment of minorities: "I understand it's a touchy subject for a lot of people. I respect what the flag represents, and that's just me. He's entitled to his own opinion and his rights. I'll just leave it at that."

He was with the team throughout the glory years. A very recognizable 49er figure for about 20 years.

Gave a draw dropping speech at Walsh's wake. I can't remember who followed him but I felt bad for the guy...he even joked about it.

Here's one link...several parts.

Gee I must not be a real 49ers fan.

He us not a "Team Doctor" he is a well respected sociologist. I think he us in his 70's now, and I expect he is semi retired. He has helped with difficult issues and troubled players over the years with the 49ers and many other organizations, in and out if the NFL, and in and out of sports ebtirely. He is both a counselor to troubled people and an arbiter if racial prejudice is suspected or referenced. He is a respected scholar and former Black Panther in his youth. Kelly has consulted with him over the years several times when there was trouble in the locker room or with a specific player or situation. The team is damn lucky to have had him as a resource.
