This. Atleast get a 4th or a 5th or something/someone for Kaep. Not just a flat out release.

We'll see. A lot of experts are saying his film from last year is so horrific only interest may be not much money one year deals. Fitzpatrick will have more interest than Kap.
I do not let CK out the door without compensation, it's bad business in the organization to say anyone can get out if they want. His salary is low for a QB this year. I tell him play an compete or retire. No way I would just cut him an let him walk for free. It just can't happen

If Oswieller has an inflated sense of worth and asks for a fortune I could see them dealing picks for Kap who is relatively cheap given the market value that was just set by the eagles. They are set to win right now...and there only hole is at QB..Kap has playoff and superbowl experience and can make easily as many throws as Manning last year and get a lot more with his legs. He wont hold a candle to Manning on all the audibles but nobody does. I could honestly say he is basically Oswieller with running ability.

Philly, you just made the case why we should not trade or cut Kaep.

To be honest before he came forward as wanting to leave, I didn't really want to toss him just yet. I was a big proponent of keeping both he and Gab and drafting a kid and holding a legit competition. I don't think there is a lot to gain from tossing him when we are unsettled at QB ourselves and his value is at an all time low. But once he didn't want to be here to me it was academic. There was always a chance, no matter how slim that he could take off in Chip's offense....but with his current attitude that long shot became no shot.
Oh, I'm of the thought that we should not trade or release him. I think we should make him play for us while. In Chips offense Kaep could put together a pro bowl season. Holding himself out of camp can hurt nobody him. So I hope he show some maturity on this.

The problem is we're now stuck with $11.9 million in salary this season. We're already on the hook to pay him well so why don't we play him and let him compete for our gig? I will tell you why. We don't work him out in practice this April once another team ponies up with picks or players. There is no incentive now for us to dump him without any compensation after we've already paid for his services dearly. If we're paying he's playing until someone else pays us is my take on it. F the feelings ... this is business!

Plus there's the issue of precedent here. We can't let Kap perform a trifecta on us. Play poorly hold us hostage for $11.9 million then force his way off the team while we get nothing in return for our buck. I say no way. That's bad business! Good business is to make him wait on the right deal if there is a deal just like the rest of us. If we ( Kap and the 49ers) don't hit the lottery then Kap should have to go to work just like the rest of us!
Every bit of this

Oh I agree...he has to leave via trade or not at all...If we cut him after we pay him, its pitchforks and torches outside Santa Clara time.

I'm 120% sure because Elway despises Kap, RGIII, Manziel type of players. He hates that kind of QB.
The difference is that Osweiler can actually throw from the pocket and has 10 times more football IQ than Kap

No team will trade for Kap because is don't have any value whatsoever.
People in the league finally realize that Kap, RGIII and Manziel type of player its not a long term solution.

The running QB crap bandwagon in NFL ended even before it started...thank GOD!

Can you repost the link about elway despising Kap, rgiii, etc type players? I missed that link and would like to read it.

Got it!!
I thought I missed a statement from elway or the Broncos?

Yup
Fairly and financially, you all are right. The other side of the coin, however, is what does a disgruntled employee, esp one who isn't playing, do to team morale, camaraderie, and so on. A P.O.ed player can wreak a lot of havoc. ...two different locker rooms, for example. My hope is that trent is busting his backside to get a dance partner for kap so we don't have to have him here, just because it makes no sense financially to turn him loose. ...or does it. $11.9 mil is a big dang hick.

My heart is in the financial sense, but my head is in the disruptive behaviour sense. And right now, am not exactly sure which of the two bad choices is worse.

We didn't forget, it went missing. Could have used a few more of those in 2015. Maybe Kaep can make a few more in 2016 so we won't have to dig 2 years deep to find a similar .gif

But he had to keep making plays like that. That's my problem. I thought he had fantastic game those first couple years, but it didn't go anywhere; it didn't last and it didn't evolve. I'm not going to pretend to know why that happened - coaching, personal habits, bad schemes, bad protection, lack of film study, lack of field awareness? Who knows?
