This is what's so confusing. Kap signed a sort of performance based contract but he hasn't improved in the small things required to make him a consistent QB.
I don't think he doesn't want to compete. I think he wants to compete for the job AND wants to play for Chip Kelly but his problems in the locker room is what is driving his decision to no longer want to be on the team.
if he doesn't wanna deal with the locker room, then he's definitely not the leader we need.
He should have already pulled together the core locker room guys, and apologized for creating a rift in the locker room by dating a former player's ex girlfriend and whatever else he's done.
It takes a certain level of integrity to fall on the sword and be accountable for your actions. If he doesn't see that or think its worth doing, then he needs to go.
Kaepernick has shown nothing in terms for leadership on this team.
Can't disagree with the bold. This is the biggest concern of moving forward with Kap.
Whatever opportunity he had to become a leader of the team was compromised from the moment Harbaugh announced Smith would not get his job back after he recovered from the concussion.
We have now heard multiple reports of teammates that felt that was unfair, that Harbaugh lost the inner confidence of the team, and Kaepernick, being the central player in all of that, was never going to be accepted well by the veterans who saw the inequity of Harbaugh's move.
As long as Kaepernick remains here, there will be that lingering resentment until all the vets are gone. In the meantime, there is still the matter of failed fundamentals.
