This is the best chance for Kap to revitalize his career.

There are a few ways of looking at Kaepernick with respect to the Niners. The team is flush with cap space, so there is no real need to get rid of him before the deadline. The team obviously has a higher level of regard for his talent than a lot of fans around here, so I'm pretty sure he gets to compete with Gabbert for the starting job if he's still here.

But the other side of it is that Baalke may be posturing with the rest of the league. Everyone knows they have enough money to keep him around and see if he'll do better with Kelly so if anyone wants to come at Baalke with a trade offer, it's got to be a decent one. They're not going to give Kaepernick away for a 6th round pick or something - at least I don't think so.

This will the first offense in the NFL where his mobility is embraced and is actually a part of the scheme that the coach teaches. The coach isn't modifying some scheme to accommodate a QB's mobility. The scheme itself is aided by a QB's ability to threaten as a runner.

I'm not buying the Jason Cole report. I have no problem bringing him back and competing for the starting QB job. But this could also be to hopefully drive up some trade interest in him. But he's clearly very intriguing in Chip's offense

The only thing holding Kap back is the mindset that mechanics are not important. If he changes that, and then works on those mechanics, he could be All Madden team-worthy, and I wouldn't have to bench him for Gabbert in Madden.

Now that he is back in Santa Clara, any leaks on how, or what Kaep is doing? Weight room, purely whirlpool, hand exercises, film room... Any thing printed or tweeted?

I think Shula's job with Cam is the best we've seen of any of the young mobile QBs so far:

1. Shula /Cam
2. Shannahan/Griffin
3. HaRoman/Kap (2012-2013)
4. Bevell/Wilson (2012-2013, early 2014)

Swap 3 and 4 for last two seasons.

Shannahan was the original genius behind all of this. Shula perfected the scheme for Cameron. Bevell has done an underrated job for Wilson.

Overall I think the biggest difference between peak Cam and peak Kap is that Cam is a better close proximity power runner and Kap a better speed guy. So Kap playing under Shula's offense right now would be good but not quite as good as Cam.

Kelly I trust will bring everything out for Kap. That's a big reason why I want to see Kap stay , at least for this year -- potential is exciting.

My friend is a Skins fan and he fully believes in Kelly/Kap more than most Niner fans do. Even DCs are anonymously showing the fear.....hell, even early 2014, it was admitted DCs figured Kap was a harder game plan than Peyton Manning (when he was good).

I don't think Cam, despite all the big plays this year is really anything special if you force him to deal with the garbage Kap has had to deal with the last two seasons.

This Super Bowl will be very telling how good Cam Newton really is. If the Panthers lose the game, it's 100% on him. Mark my words.

Whoa...I didn't say that. I just said that Chip's scheme takes advantage of a mobile QB. Any other NFL OC that coached Kap in the past had to add wrinkles into their offense to accommodate a mobile QB. Kap still needs to improve on accuracy and quick decision making.

If kap returns to 2012-2013 form we'll be a serious contender next season
