Who in CBS sports

I just looked back and it was just CBS sports reporting that NFLDraftScout.com had a mock draft that has the Niners taking him at #7.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25453141/nfl-mock-draft-would-49ers-ditch-kaepernick-for-paxton-lynch

that article mentions that Lynch has the highest upside of any QB in the class.

but then a lil further down it says Wentz has the highest upside of any QB.

JUST like Alex Smith..... except he's 6'8", 245 lbs with a stronger arm. Rothlesberger size with more speed.

Just kidding; I know what you mean. I would have to guess, though, that Alex Smith might have come a long a lot faster with a Chip Kelly than he did with those fools he had running the team early on. Look what he did with a decent coach.
so we've already written Kap off...he cant get better at ALL??

Seriously, can a Kap fan dig down inside themselves and explain why a player that has played poorly for the last two years is still held in such high regard by a good many fans in here? It is like a strange cult following to me. Fact, per the numbers Kap was a borderline top 10 QB for two seasons (2012,2013). He was below average (2014) and bottom 5 (2015). His numbers have trended down from the beginning, if Kaepernick was a stock looking at the numbers no one would buy it hoping for a rebound in price. People who weren't impressed with him have been called all kinds of names by his supporters, belittled as to knowing nothing about football and even called racist. As I see it Kap gave the 49ers two good years and two bad ones.

What about Vernon Davis? 2 time Pro Bowler, At least 5 times a top 10 player at his position. Two bad years that could possibly be because of injuries or father time caught up with the beating his body has taken over the years. Some 49er fans were saying he had a Hall of Fame career going. Yet when he falls off I was one of a couple guys saying maybe it was injuries knowing a bad back can make everything difficult. Most of the fan base called him all kinds of names, even questioning his manhood. Not even the biggest Kap hater has heaped the scorn on him that Vernon got by the hundreds.

Vernon gave us at least 5 good to great years and two bad ones. Kaepernick is at 2 good two bad. If their careers ended today all "non" 49er fans and the media talking heads would say Vernon was a far better tight end than Kaepernick was a quarterback. So why the major difference in attitude toward them in here? Serious question, someone please explain.

I support them both. Davis was a great 49er and Kaepernick is the best QB on the roster IMO.

As much as we disagree thanks for your honest response.

Not me! I haven't written anyone off. I actually think there's a chance that he might rebound with Kelly here. I'm just not hanging my hat on it.

This is from kaps draft profile coming out of college:

"
Plays out of the pistol, lacks experience under center. Has not been asked to make NFL progressions and reads. Not quick to check down or hit hot read against the blitz. Misses too many short passes. Doesn't have consistent touch on the deep ball. Release is somewhat elongated and can dip down to sidearm at times."

Was this written yesterday? Because it still applies. He still can't read defenses or go through progressions. He still doesn't use his check down or hit his hot read. He still misses many short passes and has terrible consistency on deep balls. And of course his release his still out of whack and he "doesn't care about mechanics"

Has this guy improved much if at all since college?? He's almost 30. How much time does he need?!?

If you ask me, he's got "career backup QB" written all over him. Hey, he shouldn't complain! It's a good gig to get if you can. Problem is that Kap has reached his ceiling. The only way for Kap to counter punch is for him to DRAMATICALLY improve on his reads, footwork, delivery, pocket presence and accuracy. He's too much of a project at this point in time to invest any more money.

You should see some other message boards. This place is very civil when it comes to talking sh*t about Kap compared to other MB's. NYG for instance, Eli's won them 2 superbowls and the fans on those MB's wanted him gone during his superbowl runs and after.

Considering how much he's getting paid, it's almost a no brainier. The guy needs a new start with another franchise.

Imagine kap in NY or philly. No way their fans give him the leeway he's had here. SF fans are very mellow compared to NFL fans back east.

Guys like Cam, Kaep and even Russ will always be one bad season away from "fans" ready to throw them off a bridge and it's clear why. The QB is typically the leader and face of the team. There are many football fans that are archaic in their thinking and can't stand to have their team lead by a thug. Remember a reporter wrote an entire article about Cam's smile and destroyed him for it. Some people like a certain look and attitude from their QB's. They could care less about the RB or WR, but the QB? Has to look and act a certain way.

110% correct. But I don't think it even has to be a "bad" season. I think that if Cam wins the MVP, gets to the SB and loses...I think next season Cam would get about two games. If at any point Cam has two bad games in a row, Carolina's "fans" would start their nonsense about benching Newton.

Why do I say two games.? Because after 49ers lost in the SB, 49ers "fans" gave Kaepernick about two "bad" games before they started the "let's bench Colin and trade him for a sh*t load of draft picks" nonsense.

I would take alex right now he always reminded me of rich Gannon and I kind of thought he would get it at the end of his career, future looks good for alex.

Not just any franchise. He needs a SB caliber franchise to be functional.
