The fact that the FO has not communicated once to CK during this entire hiring process also speaks volumes.

Most here don't HATE CK by any means but are objective enough to look at teams needs over the love for just him.

From a FO perspective, they may be looking at Gabbert as a slightly better option at 1/6th the cost. That's just business. Nothing more.

Sure we're in position to afford a $12M backup (worst case scenario).

But if they are serious about signing some big names at RDE, OLB and WR or CB, that cap disappears really quickly.

I think your LOVE for CK is trumping a potential business decision. One that may be best for the team.

Also, don't forget CK signed a "prove it" contract. Every year he either proves it and earns maximum money or we can cut him. Asking him now, AFTER he was benched, to restructure down to a more cap friendly but more secure contact, isn't unreasonable. It's smart business.

He is making 11.9M so where are you getting cap space from? Please tell me how Kaep's salary limited the team this season and how it will limit it next season. Please, explain that to me young man.

Well, we did lose a number of free agents last year, and we only had extra cap space after the retirements and cutting Aldon, which was 9 mil. So, yeah, Kaep's high cap figure this year prevented us from signing a tip tier guard or pass rusher or corner or retaining some players. The deal is, it hurt the team because he was being paid as a top quarterback amd didn't play anywhere close to a top quarterback. When you pay a qb that much, the thought it, the player is good enough to make up for the players you wouldn't be able to sign if you didn't pay that player. However, ck's cap figure is one reason his o-line wasn't better (not the only, I'm not blaming him for that whole mess). But, when you put more eggs in your QB basket than anywhere else, your QB better play really well- or at least be functional and not throw 2 pick 6's in 10 min, or miss a wide open receiver, or one hop throws, or faIL to read slant/flat, or study more film.... just sayin

Kap contract is affordable for next season I believe the 49ers saved 3 million when he was placed on IR. It's 2017 where his salary goes closer to $20 million I believe and the 49ers might play it out this year because the cap is going up.

Compare that to $7.3 million if he's cut. Compare that to nothing if he's traded.

How will his cap hit keep the team from landing free agents? Are you aware of all the cap space the team has?

Oh look, Carson Palmer playing like poop in the playoffs against the Packers. How much is he making?

Well.....

You think Carson played well? He threw 2 picks and almost threw a 3rd to close out the game which was dropped so..... yea. Lucky for him Rodgers was working with 4th and 5th stringers.

Dude really. He took the most team friendly contact for a QB in years, to allow the resigning of the likes of Crabtree and Iupati. We played this year $10m+ under the cap, his cap hit is average for a QB in the league and you're blaming this for why we didn't spend on oline??

We carried a cap hit for A Davis this year as well even though he was retired, we paid Devey and Pears as well and you're laying the cap hit on Kap as to why we didn't improve the oline? That's reaching buddy, the Packers, Broncos and Patriots pay top dollar to their QB and still maintain a very good line.

He had a rating over 90, if Kaepernick did that you would gloat how awesome he is. Kap fans seem to get all excited when a top rated QB has a bad game, which Palmer didn't anyway. Kap fans are like no other. I don't see fans of any other struggling player do that. It is like a parent bragging their kid got a "D" on a test because 2 kids in the class got an "F".

He owns up to nothing last season, he said he would be fine making money and playing football else where when question about people saying he was all about money lol.

No one wants to pay 11.9+ million for a backup QB like Kap. They can start BG and maybe draft a QB and it would still be better or as good as keeping kap on the team as kap is useless to the team now. Trade him to the Texans or cut him and use his money to fix the defense or improve the overall roster so the team can at least compete in the NFC West is the best option going into 2016.

Well.....

Are you honestly saying that Carson Palmer abd Kaepernick are equivalent in their play? Who would you have rather had lead the 9ers in 2014 and 2015?

I would much rather have had Carson Palmer.

Carson Palmer with JT? You're aware of all the weapons on Arizona right? And he still tried to give that game away. Carson has still only won 1 playoff game in his career.

Uh huh. I still think I would rather have had him running Harbaughs offense, and even Chryst's. And Carson wasn't handed a team where all he had to do was fall into the playoffs as a gift like Kaepernick was.

If that's the narrative yo want to peddle out here then so be it.

Carson has played on many stacked teams and hasn't been able to get it done.

4TD 3INT 80.1 Rating
7TD 5INT 87.3 Rating 4 Rushing TD.

Oh I will. Like the narrative you want to peddle
